That there’s no dance music less sensuous than this was not an obstacle. Dubstep can often sound like the gears of an industrial thrasher groaning from overuse, or the soundtrack to the construction of a Richard Serra steel sculpture. Sometimes it’s almost gothic: it would make great interstitial music for the next “Twilight” movie.

yes it does, but it's cool that it happened I guess. I don't think it will have a huge impact, but bigup nonetheless

why is it cool? validation? its not like theres a lack of people in nyc pushing the sound (unlike what the article implies) t&b was capacity....
i dunno, reads like a douchebag with no clue.. and the nytimes wonders why they are becoming more irrelevant everyday
man, im nothing but happy for the success of t&b & dubwar, ive been a loyal supporter of both since day dot more or less, and i wish them all nothing but continued success. but that article sucks.

bigups to t&b for skream and benga. I saw benga the nite before in boston

I have to agree with you. It's not a well informed perspective of this music. But in a sense it's not surprising because this is the new reality with dubstep.
The piece that Kelefah Sanneh wrote for the Times a couple years ago was better researched and had a fuller understanding of the variety and nuance of ideas within the sound.

Don't get me wrong I'm happy that such a high-profile publication wants to write about Dub War, T+B and the rest of the NYC family. I just think Caramenica missed an opportunity to dig a bit deeper into a rich and exciting musical moment that is happening in NYC underground music culture.

				What he said ^^^^^^
To be honest it would be a bit scary if a publication aimed at the masses actually nailed it.

Rusko's "Biggest Chopper" playing during pale vampire make out scene.
I can't think of a score more fitting.
