‘Dubscover 003’ @ ‘Gramaphone’, a place where people can unwrap and discover new talent in dubstep...

‘Dubscover’ involves no pressure on your pockets, by offering FREE entry all night! We all know about the current economic climate, so, we believe that FREE nights are a good option for you! Also, for the first lucky 30 people through the door there will be a free jelly shot waiting for you, and there will be more freebies throughout the night.

Many events primarily focus on established artists; instead, we concentrate on fresh undiscovered artists. Our primary objective is to showcase new talent to different promoters, record labels, managers and most importantly you, the general public.

We are finding fresh talented artists who are under the radar, and creating a space where you can discover them. At every event each artist has 1 hour to perform, and a further 20 minutes to help you to decide who is the best! All you have to do is scream and shout for your favorite artist!!!

The night will be kicking off at 8pm downstairs; however, if you want to grab something to eat there is a brilliant Thai restaurant upstairs that serves food all day till 10pm.

The sound system is big, fat, heavy and ready for some low frequencies!

£2 for a Stella bottle before 11pm, and £3.30 on all pints, all night.

Closest tube is Aldgate East and Liverpool Street...

+ Ed West - 'Air Shaking Bass Weight'
http://www.myspace.com/edwestdub

Ed was introduced to Dubstep when he heard some 'slowed down drum and bass' in his local record shop. After making a few beats and sending some out to DJs it was'nt long before tunes such as 'Lessons' a collaboration with New Zealand singer 'Jen-I', was getting rinsed on Dubplate by React FM DJs such as 'Blakstarline'. Other DJs such as Sub FM's '3zee1' (now Eds label partner) also started playing his tunes.

After a little while Ed decided to start releasing some of his tunes on his own digital label 'On the Dub'. Tunes such as 'The Ding', and 'Ghetto Yute', a remix of a 'Toxin' tune, started getting popular with DJs, such as Rinse Fm's 'Crises'.

Over two years later Ed got his job with 'Load Media', where he does A&R for dubstep labels, and looks after the digital distribution side of the company. He used this opportunity to set up his second label, releasing vinyl records under the name 'Pesky Plates', which is born out of long standing Graffiti and Free Party Kings 'THOSE PESKY KIDZ'. With their first release from 'Orien' already in the shops, the Pesky Crew are about to release their second release from 'Fused Forces'.

Ed continues to DJ all around England, and Europe and has been working on some new beats...

+ I-LV - 'Rollin Steppy Sexy Business'
http://www.myspace.com/mrilv

IL-V, real name Ben McIlveen from Clapham, South London, is a Jungle and Dubstep DJ, and promoter of the Altar club night.

IL-V didn't really follow Dubstep from the start of its scene, but after listening to Martyn's Dubstep tunes that were released on Soul:R he started checking out his material on solely Dubstep labels. IL-V name checks labels such as Hessle Audio, Apple Pips, Tempa and artists such as Jus Wan, Untold, Ramadanman and TRG, to influence his growing interest in Dubstep. Now IL-V now plays out as much Dubstep as Jungle.

Looking to the future IL-V wants to expand his successful Altar night that he co-promotes with his brothers, and increase his bookings at other events. When playing out IL-V likes to play music that stands out above similar sounding throw away tunes that proliferates both the Dubstep and Jungle scenes...
