Be A Youtube DJ

Post by faust.dtc » Tue Sep 29, 2009 4:54 pm

Here is a website that allows you to test your dj'ing skills by mixing 2 youtube videos together.

Its not that easy to get a good mix as there is no pitch and you can not cue or find the down beat without setting up the track you are mixing in first but its worth a play with for 5 minutes....

A friend of mine actually witnessed a guy playing a set straight off you tube. I actually made a conscious decision to not go into that side room until the guy was done so I'm sorry I don't have any specifics to tell you exactly what he was doing. Apparently just opening up two browser tabs and doing a quick transition between the two of them. call me old fashioned but something about that seems really wrong to me.

Me and my mate were in our cars the other day and were trying to mix using our iPods.

He would pick a song then i would try and press play exactly at the right point and see if they were in. We got a few locked , it was well fun ha. And because we were in seperate cars we both had Youngsta & Toast podcast on at the same time, took some time to get them in though.

You can actually buy mixers with iPod docks so you can do that yourself. Biggest waste of money ever.

I always have two windows of youtube open whilst on a youtube marathon for nice transitions between tunes.

Trying to find a new tune before the other one ends is also part of my sad fun.

Yeah that's pretty lame. I once saw a guy doing it with 2 winamps, I didn't think it could get any worse. I at least hope he was only using HQ videos lol.

Dunno about girl talk, this was some random guy. He was using winamp's fade function to blend them into eachother.

if they'd fix the HQ so it wasnt so buggy, and gave the option to filter out all the low-q vids i might actually start using it...

Until then its only used as a last resort
