greets, y'all ...

I am working on putting together a set of contemporary eastern flavored dubstep tunes for a fundraiser I am playing in NYC
I have generally leaned more in the ragga/dub/reggae direction ...

A couple tunes I like to give you sense of the vibe I am going for ... tho' more chilled out is cool as well...
  • Major Lazer - Hold The Line (Audio Dakoos 'Lazers On Stun' Remix)
Chase n' Status - Eastern Jam
    Akira Kiteshi - Pinball
any suggestions appreciated...

cheers.

Sharmaji feat. Maggie Horn - Break Your Heart (Soul Motive)

i figure anything in the last year or so is fair game given the sparse releases in this genre, so count this in ;)

on a similar tip, the Sub Swara remix of Shiva Soundsystem's "Glitterstep" is nice. sounds a bit more contemporary

Fever Ray - When I Grow Up (Bassnectarz Remix) ... this tune isn't exactly 'eastern' but it has a nice early morning soulful spiritual kind o' vibe ...

and you can grab a free edit at http://www.bassnectar.net ... this track is beautiful.

what does eastern have to do with dub/reggae? eastern is either eastern-europe so you have all those balkan influences.. or even more to the east -> asia. in which case, chase & status - eastern jam (that's why they call it eastern jam) is probably the closest. hold the line is dancehall, has nothing to do with east

my suggestion: chasing shadows - amirah

check out "Sollabong"

Devastating meditative moodiness, ethnic and trancey elements over some tasteful usage of wobble bass. These are some of the main qualities provided by the young Hungarian producer Sollabong on his first ever EP, out now on DubKraft Records, in the "Hello My Name Is" series. It's not his first release though, he's a DubKraft soldier since label's early times, he just took his time to develop a style, not rushing things and maintaining a modest attitude. But it's his time now! And your encouragements may be what he needs most to make his next step. Please welcome Sollabong!
