Ruffage returns for for its first Friday night Wire session in 12 months. Headlining is the mighty BRACKLES who, over the past few years, has made a startling progression from student DJ champion and longtime resident of Detonate in Nottingham to pioneering producer in his own right, as well as co-owning Blunted Robots alongside Shortstuff. With recent releases on Planet Mu, Applepips and Berkane Sol, BRACKLES has come a long way since his first Ruffage appearance last February so expect his trademark super-tight mixing and even more of the freshest sounds about.
Ruffage's first ever live performance will come courtesy of MOUNT KIMBIE. Comprised of London-based Dom and Kai, they have released two sublime EPs on Scuba's Hotflush label to widespread critical acclaim and recently performed as guests on Gilles Peterson's Radio 1 show. Joining them in their live set is James Blake, a rising star himself judging by his release on Hemlock. This will be an awe-inspiring session of truly innovative electronic music from the trio - not to be missed.
Hot off the back of recording the seventh Dubstep Allstars CD with Ruffage favourite Chef and a series of fine releases and remixes, RAMADANMAN once again steps into the Wire booth to deliver his inimitable take on UK bass music. Expect stripped-down, percussive styles from the Ruffage regular.
SubFM stalwarts SUBMERSE have been pushing their own unique sound for several years now and look set to continue rising so expect a fine set of ethereal future garage from these Ruffage debutants.
Finishing off the night will be a special Jungle and Drum & Bass back-to-back from Ruffage residents Mudda and Apt Pupil, both of whom will be digging deep into their crates as well as bringing their own distinctive productions into the mix.
The night will be powered by Wire's newly-installed FUNKTION-ONE soundsystem, further cementing its reputation as the best club in Leeds.
