Hi, i recently got vinyl decks and ive just about got the hang of beatmatching,
but im trying to mix Akira kiteshi Boom n Pow into another track, But it seems really hard for some reason.
The beats seem different or off time and i cant figure it out.
Any help would be massively appreciated, cheers!

Um I think that track is 142BPM - I'm guessing your trying to mix it into a track that is 140BPM

yeah but it still seems massively off,
i cant find the right first beat to drop in, if ya get me.
its hard to explain but whenever im cueing it up it doesnt feel properly matched asif the beats are all over the place!
sorry if im talking a load of crap but ive only just got the vinyl and it feels different(more complicated) to other tunes ive got..

or issit no different and im just being a tard' who needs to figure it out myself??

It's probably just a more challenging track to mix in - I know he takes the less formulaic approach at song structure and doesn't just make stuff that is easily mixed for the sole purpose of being easy on DJs (hrrrm more producers take this route please?!). good practice though. keep in mind you don't always have to do long transitions when mixing, just do whatever grooves.

I take it you know that the 1st part of boom n pow is 95 bpm. if you want to mix it with dubstep you have to go from the 1st breakdown.....

alot of dubstep is kinda a pain to mix, sometimes i have issues with mixing 2 of my own tunes even at same bpm. it comes down to how the beat is quantized ie some of my tunes are in triplet and mixing them with a standard beat is a pain. the key is to find an element that matches the timing with what you are mixing into, be it drums, a pad or bassline

could be a different timing structure

3/4 rather than 4/4 or 6/8

means the beats will sound off and breaks may be placed differently
