I always hated it too, I used to use X-play when I had an ipod, but these days I just use regular mp3 players from like Samsung and Sandisk, ones that show up as a removable drive and act like one, just copy/paste, no software required.

Check x-play: http://www.mediafour.com/products/xplay/
More @ http://ipodmanagers.blogspot.com
There's one for winamp too: http://www.mlipod.com
Foobar2000 also has a component for managing ipods and iphones.

Agreed.
About a month ago my Itunes threw a fit, wiped 60Gb music on my computer AND a further 20GB stored seperately on my Ipod a week after the warranty expired. Havn't been able to use the Ipod since. If that isn't an act of pure evil, I don't know what is.

You ever think that maybe it's your system that's fucked up? Why does Itunes work so well for so many others, but it decides to rape your ass? Try another free media player perhaps.

I've used Itunes for years now and I've never experienced any problems. I like it, keeps my music nicely organized, good for burning cds etc.

iTunes is sick. Wouldn't wanna use any other music player, the rest just seems shit and unorganised. Especially Windows Media Player.

iTunes is the one and has been for ages.
