Boomkat review of Guido's Punch Drunk release..
'Alongside this weeks double hitter from 2000F & Joker, Guido's massively awaited 'Orchestral Lab' has to be our pick of the dubstep crop. Part of Peverelist's Punch drunk stable, Guido is in good company with Gemmy, Pinch, Gatekeeper and the rest of the Bristol crew seriously holding it down at the moment. 'orchestral Lab' is the immediate attention grabber on the A-side, squeezing in more synthfunk and subbass into four minutes than most producers manage in an album, this guy has funky fingers just like Joker, that blatantly love to eak out the most curdled riffage possible and in the process manage to swipe out the majority of the dubstep scene with one big splash of melodic colour. However our favourite cut is the B-side 'Way U Make Me Feel' with a tense but optimistic hyperslow riddim building up intensely arpeggiated synthlines with lazer flashing sweeps for a dance starting blast of excitement. Yeah, we definitely like this 12" and so will you if you're into Joker, Gemmy, Rustie, Zapp, Kode 9, Ikonika or well funked music.'
