Making tinny, metallic bass

Post by shahbazi » Thu Oct 15, 2009 7:37 pm

I need help producing this sound in albino 3. Tried posting in "help me make this sound" but got no help. Im wanting to make the tinny, metallic bass i keep hearing everywhere. Sort of like that in sukh knight- ganja dub, and stenchmans - spell on you. Any help?

I would also like to know this,

for some reason I think fm synthesis is the answer but I'm not sure why, and I don't know specifics

I'm interested in the sound from in the death car by 16bit, I think that can be described as the same sort of metallic sound

using an erosion effect on a bassline can also create a metallic sound to the bassline....it is a standard effect in ableton

try filtering out the low freqencies and bouncing a copy of that then import the smaple with the high freqs and apply some distortion playing the original on another channel. how this makes sense, I'm not so great at explaining these things!

Use an FM synth. ESFM1 is standard for this.

That sounds like that preset in Massive, Brutal Electro

If I wanted to make a sound like that I would start with some square waves and some filters. Maybe comb or vowel (?) filter types.

There are a million presets out there that have this sound already. All you need to do then is setup ur movement.

Play with it for a few months and you will understand how to do it and many other sounds on ur journey.

There is no quick way to make the sound using just Albino alone.

we might be explaining all day in that case...

people here can help a LOT, but you gotta have some basic understanding of how the synth works for a lot of the advice to sink in, so get back to fuggin around for fun first!

there's enough in this thread to get you the sound, you just need to know how to relay it onto albino, watch the tutorials, read the manual and the production bible sticky up top...
youtube albino tutorials...etc

i know its not what you want to hear, but its what you have to hear :D
