Somehow it all just came together last night - busy club, some very cool crowd,(that mid 40's lady crew dressed like 1980's new york hookers!!) the magic of Skream, more people into dubstep.....

proper party ! Bukem was no competition !!

I saw Bukem actually, he was like ''Corpsey are you coming to see my set later on?'' I smiled politely and then bottled him. Luckily it turned out that the bottle was actually a rollie and he just got tobacco all over his glasses.

Still.

"that mid 40's lady crew dressed like 1980's new york hookers!!"

Yeah, whatever you think about havin dubstep as the room 2 at DnB nights in town centre clubs it always seems to pull in an entertaining selection of shirt-off gurners, hen nighters and proper mental cases who show up on the dance floor, look confused for a bit and then a couple of tunes later are skankin with everyone else.

Wicked night. Big up Skream. Big up Jon Rust. Until the next...

Hiphop's loss = dubstep's gain!

@boulty...were you the guy who found his glasses stuck to the bottom of your shoe? Kamal and Julia were saying someting about that! Such jokes.

As for the rest of the crowd.... I know what I-line's saying - at the last few Detonate's I've seen quite a few startled dnb ravers taking a few steps back at first then just getting into skanking out...

but last fri was definitely more than just the usual core dubsteppers and fringe DnB lot... loads of hiphop heads coz Klash didnt show... the grime lot turning out for skream... and a fair few techno/ electronica names (Matt Tolfrey and Bpole were grinning like loons- they'd never heard bass like it!)... we even had a couple of The Killers down there-they were in town for a gig the following night- the guitarist was blown away saying "I've never heard anything like this before"

Big up all you that came down... much more dubstep at Detonate in the new year WATCH OUT!!!! ;-)

Watch out for a new change in direction for the killers! They were hanging around the Park Plaza Hotel with no where to go so I took them to Stealth to check out some dubstep. The guitarist Ted was soon skanking away on the dancefloor with us...

Agreed with all the above - great set from skream and another great night for dubstep in Nottingham....

Anyone up for Vex'd this thursday???

Vex'd this thursday there's a possiblity I might get far too messy and end up trying to crawl into a game of Pacman.

Still surprises me everytime that dubstep is so popular here, seems to be getting bigger as well.

Suppose it's time to start looking around the South of France for the mansion I'm going to buy off the back of selling scraps of my Futureproof posters.

Sick sick night, your chest Jon, heavy set.

Stealth killed me this weekend. Skream on Friday and Rex The Dog Saturday, am back at my desk in London with a sore head...

Will be back in Notts Thursday for Futreproof, biggup all Nottingham crew!

Anyone from Notts making the trip up to Leeds for DMZ on Saturday?

Yes, it's goin to be a big couple of days for us northern dubsteppas. I know a lot of people are thinkin of reachin Leeds on sat.

There's been talk of organising our own magic bus... Maybe a bit late to sort out for this time but might be worth thinkin about for the next. Who's in it?

19 REPLIES WOOOOOOO

I've got to see if I'm still sentient saturday and have no work to do. If those factors combine I might try and reach the leeds thing.
