A vst is a special cut of ham taken from the thigh of an alpaca.

This pic demonstrates perfectly:

yea i mean i'm gonna do some videos up once i actually get a proper cam to capture it all and such, but i mean so many people go off others advice or what the big dogs use etc that they only scratch the surface of a million diff vsts etc, rather than learning a couple inside out and developing their style rather than copying.

I often hear about people saying they can make ill bass on synth A but unable to do so in synth B....I think it's just a comfort thing.

Synthesizers don't have sounds, they are tools to make your own sound.

Now, if you talked about sound modules, my vote would go for the JV-2080, those sounds are still very usable for electronic dub, jazz and reggae!

pretty much, it comes down to knowing synthesis and taking the time to learn the interface and ins and outs (modulation routing, envelopes etc)
once you have the basics down it doesn't take as long to bounce back and forth between diff vsts/synths, just a matter of comfort with interface.

Initialize a patch - select a saw/sine/square wave on your oscillator - hit the C1 key on your keyboard - feel the bass - tweak frequency, add LFO, bring the noise.

repeat with extra oscillators, second filter, FX and envelopes for added zing.

Better to start from scratch than try to fuck around with presets that you dont understand the construction of.

Alternatively try and emulate a preset you like from scratch.

ok i dont think people read my first post.

im on about which has better sync and fm sounds? because, now I wish people would start realising the bass sounds coming out now are very FM based, metalic, with a sub underneath but im not sure if the peeps in this production section understand the whole FM thing.,
