Post by drksteppa » Thu Oct 22, 2009 7:55 am

Normally, horror flicks don't scare me. This one really freaked me out! pretty scary if you ask me...un-believable. I'm going to have trouble going to bed..lol

Not seen it, but this makes me want to. Properly scary movies are great.

What's it about? (no spoilers!)

It's one of those Blair Witch - esque films. A proper low budget and no special effects, but has sent critics wild. Some couple move into a new house and get harrassed by ghosts and other such paranormal forces. It's all that implied horror stuff - I don't think it ever really shows you what the evil forces look like, they leave it to your own imagination to scare you silly.

Saw one of the original releases in Austin. Had a line around the block for it. Take a girl you're interested with you. She'll be clinging to you the entire movie.

They did a really good release campaign for it. They only opened it in 8 cities in the US and then put out a commercial saying "If you want this movie to come to your theater sign the online petition" Tons of people signed wanting to have the option to see it and only last week did it get full release in the states. I'm guessing it'll go worldwide soon.

I heard they only spent like $20-30k dollars, and it's already made $20 million.

Started slowly and spent the first half of the film thinking it was a bit shit and then all of a sudden I got really freaked out and had to turn the light on. Horror films never do that to me.

It's pretty good, better than a lot of ghost type movies in the last few years. Nothing amazing, but better than something like Haunting in Connecticut.
I had read in some magazine Steven Spielberg was originally going to do a remake, but decided to release the original instead. I wish more people in hollywood did that...

Horror films are shit, predictable, and just not scary.

However, I watched this last night, I fucking shat bricks. Had to sleep with the light on, and only managed to get about 4, 5 hours. Kept hearing weird noises.

Fucking scary film and I highly recommend it. Very, very well made.

that whole movie was a trip. the part where the demon pulled on the girls leg to wake her up and to drag her like that again scared the living shit out of me.
