my friends have said bright piano .. and i try that with a bit of tape delay and stuff.. but it just aintttt the correct sound im looking for.. i mean. ive listend too midi files of songs.. and the midi file uses a standerd piano.. but the pianos that are in the original sound 10000000 times nicer... so can anyone help. does anyone know of a reason refill becaus eim using reason 4.. i dnt want a bunch of niceee pianos.. i just want mainly 1 or 2 or 3 perfect pianos for my olschool riddims im making hope u can help me sorry bout the spelling and the punctuation.

Make your own old school piano, filter, add noise, detune.

Keep pushing the sound, just cause you are not doing it, doesn't mean it can't be done. Keep pushing.

Look for some Korg M1 piano samples, that's the old house and hardcore piano.

Wormcode, I've got the m1 le vst, came with a bit of hardware I bought a while ago. I've never really dug into it. Seemed like it had really candy candy sounds. U think the vst can make the sound homie is looking for?

Yeah I got that as well, it's the exact old house piano sound everyone used to use back then. The LE version only has the original sound bank from the M1 (with the pianos), no expansions. Lot's of classic sounds in the old M1: Piano16.mp3 @ http://www.synthmania.com/m1.htm

It's a very faithful recreation, I think the M1 VST is a rompler so it's probably high quality M1 samples. If not, they sound damn close.

God, I hate the M1. I can understand the appeal of the wavestation vst, but really, who would want to make their signature sound that of an early 90's workstation. Even reasons stock piano sound is better, barely...The reason piano refill is probably the way to go for your needs, tho I've never heard them in action.

That's a tricky one knobby. To me the m1 sounds so kitsch, which is maybe it's appeal. It does have a sound, you have to admit, and that is more than can be said for many synths.

Maybe its my generation, and/or economic status but I have a sonic sweet spot for cheezy rompler sounds I will not be shamed!

if I'm gonna sound kitschy I'd rather it be in an 80's way...

I reckon detuning would help as nowasdj said... I think a lot also has to do with it sounding "poor quality" or dusty or something...

Add some spring reverb, delay and filtering to your sounds.

so im using reason......... so i should get any piano and detune it??? so im puttin in 2 nnxts into a combinator and detuning them slightly???
stil doesnt tell me with piano preset too start off with ....... i kinda like the chords in this/........

i know how too make my sub with sum tape or tube distortion and im good with my drums its just that piano sound im loking for

I would sample one piano note ( a middle C?) and then assign that across
the keyboard preferably at an 8 bit SR.

That will give you a nice crunchy and stretched out old school vibe.

totally - even sampling the GM Piano 3 in Quicktime might work if you're really stuck.. then process accordingly - down the sample bits to 12 or lower
