Okay so I've been experimenting with Ableton all week and I'm starting to suss out what everything does now I realise how lucky I am!

What I want to know is that on a build up to a drop how would you have it so that before the drop you could have one really long wobble that takes a couple of seconds before you drop it back into some faster paced stuff.

I've been playing around with the different controls in arrangement view, mostly with the LFO Rate and Synced rate but am having real difficulty getting anything that doesn't sound really stupid.

I know I haven't made myself very clear but if anyone has any input on how to achieve this, then that would be great, thanks!

I would just use the lfo...

well normally, you would get a wobble by using a LFO to mod the cutoff freq, right?

so turn off the LFO on your synth, and put the filter at about half. play a bass pattern and right click on the Frequency control. click "show modulation" this should open your pattern, and it will have a line going thru it. the line is your cutoff frequency. double click to add points on it, which you can move to modulation the filter and get wobbles. you can make them as long or short as you want and change up the rhythm.

Ive got a similair question in Ableton Live8.

When I use automation in the arrangement to change the LFO sync rate with Simpler it works fine and shows 1/4 1/8 1/16 etc so i can change the speed of the wobbles. But when I try and do the same thing in the clip envelope it shows +1 +2 +4 etc and not the 1/4 1/8 1/16 and it doesnt change the speed of the wobble, and its the same parameter. The filter Freq paramter works the same in both arangement and in the clip.

I just would like to have my wobble clip already the way I want it before I put it in arrangment and not have to muck around as much in arrangement

do you add wobble to both your mid bass and your sub bass, or your mid bass only?

Thats based on what sound you want to achieve? i would not.. Mid range bass wobble only, leave the sub out of it.

I was just curious...it seems that I've been syncing them both to wobble. My attempts at Dubstep are still shite though.
