problems with stuffit expander & no "installer" on new mac

Post by ism » Tue Oct 27, 2009 5:39 pm

just picked up a lovely new MBP with OS X snow leopard ! after installin' logic i started rinsin' the net for plugin's :) when tryin' to open the files stuffit expander gives me the followin' message:

"The destination folder "/Volumes/Chip32_2007_06_16/AU" is on a locked volume. Please select another destination."

went all through the preferences, changed destinations to which stuffit replied:

"A folder was specified when a file was required (Error #17530)"

checked 'nuff forums out and finally found some stuff on here:

http://forums.macrumors.com/archive/ind ... 97211.html

basically saying the folder was already un-zipped and all i had to do was open the file with "installer" in disk utilities. anyway, i dont have an "installer" in disk utilities (or anywhere else for that matter) the guy on mac forums has the same problem (no installer) & he was advised to do a full OS re-install because "installer" REALLY should be there . . .

WTF ! i REALLY cant be arsed with a full re-install, logic runs fine & no problems anywhere else (so far) . . .

any suggestions ?
