A special holiday edition featuring four DJs covering the full spectrum of todays upfront sounds!
6th & Fairfax Presented by BijouBreaks.com
BijouBreaks.com presents 6th & Fairfax, a breakbeat radio show. In addition to featuring many established international DJs, a major focus of the show is showcasing the "up n' comer" DJ, providing them a platform to be exposed to a worldwide audience. 6th & Fairfax is named after the Los Angeles street corner where the idea for the BijouBreaks website first came about, and the area continues to be a source of inspiration as we journey forward.

This month's special guests:

OOAH
OOAH, the Turntable Junkie, is a master at the art of turntablism and a wizard on the wheels of steel. He's a southern fried kid from New Orleans bombing the west coast underground with style and grace. Residing in Los Angeles and now connected with the Los Angeles Breakbeat Association, he rocks the dance floor hard with a mix of original tracks along with the hottest cuts out on wax. Dropping a variety of flavors from bass grinding mid-tempo tech-hop to electronic mindbending breakbeats to feet-stomping drum & bass and jungle to psycedelic dream-rthythms and intellectual glitch frequencies. Don't miss out on this highly energetic performance as he tears it up on three turntables, killing it with his out-of-control mixing abilities and unstoppable scratch rhythms. Ooah has been blowing up sound systems up and down the west coast and across seas to the Hawaiian Islands keepin' the crouds hyped and the subs bumpin'!!
Back in the L.A.B.A. Studios, something is always cooking! Ooah aka the Turntable Toaster aka CreamCheezCutz has been hard at work putting together his first full-length album of all original tracks featuring Dj Oscure aka the FunkyGhettoPhonicChef! But for now, keep checking his profile for new "Inside the Artists Studio" clips of live sessions and unreleased tracks and up-dates on where and when this kid is throwing down on the tables!!!
As for the future, Ooah will continue his adventures in the studios and around the US, playing with the most well respected artists in electronic sounds, such as Tipper, Freq Nasty, Krafty Kuts & A.Skillz, Son of the Electric Ghost, Lee Coombs, Aquasky, Deekline, Boabinga, Tayo, Kraddy, Lorin Bassnectar and plenty more to come.

Bushby
John first got into dance music when he was about 11 years old with the sounds of Bomb The Bass and the Streetsounds Electro series being particular favourites. Since then, mainly thanks the Mary-Anne Hobbs Breezeblock show on BBC Radio 1 (which he listened to religiously in his teens) he has spent a lot of time and money discovering and listening to new sounds.
In the year 2000 John decided he'd had enough of just listening and decided to splash out on some shiny new Technics decks and he's never looked back. In his career so far as a DJ he has played many styles, starting off with dirty house records and then gradually working his way through the mainly dark and techy genres of electronic music including Progressive house, Tech House, Electro and Breaks.
During the first three years of his life as a DJ John had 2 residencies and was runner up in the now defunct Muzik magazines Bedroom Bedlam competition, won the iDJ Reader mix competition and been one of the www.protonradio.com featured artists.
Nowadays John is best known for his numerous mixes which are usually a melting pot of machine funk electro, dubstep, glitchy breaks, techno and any other filth that happens to be lying around at the time.
In 2005 John moved away from the traditional two decks and a mixer and started using Ableton Live. A move which he feels has given him the freedom to be more creative and allowed a wider selection of music to be played that would not always be possible on decks. It's also thanks to this new technology that John has become more intersted in producing his own tracks, what these will sound like is anyone's guess. Look out for some tracks (hopefully) coming soon-ish (maybe).
John is joint owner and A+R of the Digital Distortions label along with his good friend and sometimes mixing partner nEiL_M.

Suspender
Born in Rosario, Argentina, Suspender was given the tools to create sound at an early age. Suspender, aka JP Sancho, began studying piano at the age of 4 and shortly thereafter added drums to his studies. Years later, with a foundation for music composition laid and computers more easily accessible, Suspender found new ways to experiment musically. Connecting his Commodore 64 to a keyboard allowed him to explore the unknown digital music realm.
While in Argentina Suspender made his mark on the region’s music scene playing drums with the band Keyser Soze. Following a rigorous tour schedule the band was voted Rosario's Band of the Year in 1998. Suspender’s travels during this time exposed him to a wide range of musical styles including Jazz, Funk, NU Metal and Drum ‘n Bass.
Suspender arrived in America in 1999 with the band Superjudas, and took full advantage of his opportunity to travel and meet like-minded musicians. His first major role landed him a spot as drummer for the Indian-psychedelic rock band The Orphics. During his travels he met and played alongside artists such as Blues guitarist Jay Gordon and Funk singer Preston, and shared the stage at many of Los Angeles’ world famous rock clubs including House of Blues, The Roxy, The Knitting Factory and The Key Club.
The following year of playing at event throughout North America opened his eyes to the lack of live performances within the electronic music scene. His next project quickly took shape: a live performance combining out-of-this-world bass lines, body moving beats and melodies using sequencers, samplers, mixers, keyboards and effects. It was this spark that has led Suspender to deliver the live performances entertaining audiences today.
Suspender has achieved a loyal following throughout California and South America from both audiences and DJs. He has performed live at Coachella, Burning Man and clubs in Argentina. Suspender’s talent and passion put him on the short list of producers set to define breakbeat’s next era.
Having previously released tracks under is own Black Buddha label, Suspender is the latest addition to the BijouBeats’ roster. His debut track Rosario sets the tone for his forthcoming album slated for a summer 2007 release. Look for several additional releases and remixes from Suspender in the coming months on the BijouBeats label.
