He had a few allright tunes, shame he had to waste his life though, and attempt murderA RISING rap star is facing a lengthy jail term after trying to kill his 15-year-old pregnant ex-girlfriend.
Brandon Jolie, known as 'Maniac', who recently recorded a track for sportswear giant Nike, recruited fellow rapper Kingsley Ogundele to help him murder the young girl.
The two friends, both 19, regarded her as an "irritating, inconvenient problem" who stood in the way of their fame, London's Old Bailey heard today.
Jolie, a student at Luton's Bedfordshire University, wanted the girl to have an abortion because if his mother found out about the pregnancy she would stop his tuition fees.
He lured her to a remote spot in North London last November, before Ogundele, smashed her head with a pole, threw her into a canal and held her head under the water to drown her.
Calculated
She was only saved when a brave passer-by intervened.
Jolie, of Bow, East London, and Ogundele, of Romford, Essex, had discussed their murder plan in a ten-hour email exchange in October last year.
The two rappers carried out the plan with "cold eyed and unnerving calculation" three weeks later.
Jolie, who has had "some success" with his music appearing on the playlist of dance station Kiss FM, lured the girl, who was 24 weeks pregnant, to the secluded canal path where Ogundele lay in wait.
Ogundele glared at her as she walked past before running up behind her and smashing her over the back of the head several times with a metal pole and knocking her to the ground.
He then kicked her into the water and held her head under so the teenager feared she would drown.
Just as she was about to give up hope of survival, passer-by Andrew Hall bravely intervened and chased off her attacker before "fishing" the girl out of the water and calling police.
Ogundele had denied conspiracy to murder but an Old Bailey jury today found him unanimously guilty.
Jolie, whose MySpace site claims his tracks have featured in the Brit flick Adulthood and in telly soap EastEnders, pleaded guilty before the trial.
Ogundele showed no emotion as the verdict was returned.
The two pals are due to be sentenced next month for the November 12 attack last year.
Jolie, then 18, had been going out with the teenager for over a year but months before the attempted murder the pair split up.
When the girl fell pregnant Jolie questioned whether the child was his. He wanted her to have an abortion but she refused.
Joile discussed his dilemma with Ogundele, known as Snoopy Montana, by email before hatching a plan.
The e-mail exchange found by detectives revealed "the devil of the plot" which showed the "deplorable casual and callous way these two feral youths quickly plotted ways to murder her", prosecutor Vivek D'Cruz earlier said.
In it Jolie wrote: "Bruv, that girl won't leave me alone. She taking it far now before" adding "It gives me belly ache".
Ogundele replies included "Hey I will f****** kill her. F*** her bruv, she's a f****** p****", "tell her to come see you. I've had enough of this slut" and "She is on my last f****** nerve now".
Jolie replied to the last one before writing: "You are telling me mate. She's trying to f*** up my life" and adding "I don't care if she lives or dies because the consequences for having a child are too big for me to handle."
Mr D'Cruz added: "This plan that they sought to carry out, when the attack on the girl took place and the details also reveals the casual callous extent these two were prepared to go to get rid of, to murder, her and her baby.
"The motive for this murder was her being pregnant with what Jolie thought was his baby.
"Both Ogundele and Jolie perceived the victim as nothing more than an irritating inconvenient problem, a problem that really was as far as they were concerned had to be eliminated."
As the girl was attacked she shouted out "please don't, I am pregnant".
