Appleblim, Bass Clef and Geiom at London Jazz Festival 2009
UK dubstep producers Appleblim, Bass Clef and Geiom perform on the last day of London Jazz Festival, with special guest musicians from the London Improvisers Orchestra
SOUTHBANK CENTRE // The Clore Ballroom, Royal Festival Hall, 3–7 FREE
As part of the closing day of the London Jazz Festival in association with BBC Radio 3, Southbank Centre is continuing its relationship with trouble tune, a unique strand of programming in the venue’s free spaces. trouble tune will take place in The Clore Ballroom, Royal Festival Hall, the largest ballroom space in the UK, accommodating 800 standing.
The space will be transformed into a huge dance floor and meeting ground for dancehall and electronic music, live musicians and digital art, presenting three seminal names in UK dubstep music, APPLEBLIM, BASS CLEF and GEIOM, and special guests from the LONDON IMPROVISERS ORCHESTRA including bassist JOHN EDWARDS, Japanese multi-instrumentalist KENICHI, and legendary pedal steel guitarist BJ COLE, led and conducted SHABAKA HUTCHINGS and JASON YARDE, two of the most exciting horn players in UK improvised music today.
This show will also feature two sets by electronics artist MATT YEE-KING with Swedish algorithmic dance innovator CLICK NILSON, who will demonstrate a form of music-making triggered by a computer software technique called ‘livecoding’.
With special sound-visual installations in the space curated by the TILT COLLECTIVE.
This specially curated programme for Southbank Centre acts as the prelude to a headline performance inside Royal Festival Hall by Chicago post-rock experimental group TORTOISE (supported by CLUSTER). Tortoise are famous for crossing diverse styles of music, from dub to minimalism to subtle electronica.

6 days to go... this event is free to enter and could be a good come down from Hyperdub 5th birthday?
