I am use to just selecting 1/16t for triplets on all DAWs but FL9 does not have this option in the drop down menu where you select the time sig. Do you need to select 1/3? what if you want to do odd meters?

somewhere up in the top left of the piano roll window, you'll have a bunch of buttons.
as you scroll over them, in the very top left of FL you'll see a lil window that tells you what each thing is as you hover over it.
what you're looking for is "Snap To Grid"
i usually keep it on 1/4, but it really doesn't matter so long as your notes aren't long enough to ride over each other.
then you can lay them basically anywhere you want.
sorry if i'm misunderstanding the question, i cant tell you exactly where to put the notes, i mean, i could take a screen shot but it would be a pain in the dick.
if nobody has sufficiently answered you in an hour or 2 i'll post a screen shot for you.
hope that helps

I know how to snap to grid. I want to know how I can enable snap to grid while triplets are enabled!
I think for triplets you need to set it to 1/3 but not 100% sure.

so you're talkin like a "one click = three notes" type deal?
never heard of it.
yeah, a 1/4 should be fine btw, but man, just lay em in and listen to what sounds right

Im sorry to be "that guy" but LOL at some replies in this thread.
Anyway,
Yes, 1/3 step is what you want. I use 1/6 more but arrange in triplets.
More to the point, why do you want to use snap to grid? :p Unquantizised is the way forward.

I do often take quantize off but just wanted to confirm 1/3 is triplets.
Why does FL name things like this and other DAWs use 1/16t? what is the math behind it lol

There are two ways of doing this, either turn on shuffle, which at full is equal to triplets i do believe.
other wise when you go into piano roll, there furthest button along that looks like a grid, just change that to 1/3 of a beat, i think is the setting don't ahve it here now, you should see that your grid changes size so that each beat is split into 3 not 4 and that should do the trick
