Letting an album play all the way through
How many people put on an album and let it play all the way through and listen to it all?
I try to do this frequently but I often just listen to singular tracks.

Re: Letting an album play all the way through
I do when I go to sleep, but I usually fall asleep by the time the third tracks gets around.

Statement of Intent VIP / Sahaquiel v4 single out now on UK Trends.

I try and do this a lot. I often discover tracks that I never knew were good before.
Re: Letting an album play all the way through
Depends on the album surely.
Re: Letting an album play all the way through
Yup, totally depends on the album. I'm usually one for letting it play through.
The mp3 age has ruined this for me tbh. I never EVER skip tracks on a record or a CD but if it's an mp3 album queued up I'll go straight to one song.

Well yeah, obviously.firky wrote:Depends on the album surely.

I don't mean letting it play through just because it's an album.

You have no self discipline.tomm wrote:Yup, totally depends on the album. I'm usually one for letting it play through.

Re: Letting an album play all the way through
it's a problem that plagues my life

likewise, but I build up my self discipline by choosing fruit over chocolate. (sometimes)tomm wrote:it's a problem that plagues my life

Re: Letting an album play all the way through
yeah this is the same with me. Up until like 2004 I would without a question listen to albums all the way through. I used to know albums based on track number and the way it progressed and all that. Q: what song is _________ A: that's number ___ sometimes wouldnt even need the title. just a vague description of what it sounded liketomm wrote:The mp3 age has ruined this for me tbh. Like the KM album for example. I love the album but I've never listened to it straight through. couldn't tell you what the 2nd or 3rd song is.

All the way through!
Unless I'm in the mood for a specific song or with friends.

Kryptic Minds - One of Us
Nas - Illmatic
Burial - Both Albums
BDP - First Two Albums
Jeru The Damaja - (As Above)
Stone Roses - Stone Roses
And thats about it... (I love DJ Premier, clearly!)

Re: Letting an album play all the way through
The White Room, Gold Against the Soul, OK Computer, Holy Bible, various Orbital albums, Mezzanine, In Utero, Music for the Jilted Generation... seems all of my favourite albums that I listen to in their entirety are from the 90s

Re: Letting an album play all the way through
I might have to dig out my Manics albums now

strange, this is the only Beatles album i cannot listen to all the way. ( i assume you mean the beatles?)
Most other albums i can get through, even bad tracks, if the bulk of the album is good. Otherwise i don't get drawn to the album in the first place.
I think i am yet to be too effected by the MP3 age, if i Dl anything i have to get the whole album anyway.
How can you figure out the whole bands sound without the rest of the tracks.
Re: Letting an album play all the way through
No, I meant The White room by the KLF. The White Album is by the Beatlesthomas wrote:firky wrote:The White Room,

.

(Can't listen to the Beatles, 1) I don't like them 2) I had to listen to them all the time in the car as a kid)

Kid A has to be played in it's entirety, it is the best album they have ever done and is one of the best albums of the last thirty years IMO.
