Yes indeed. This is going to be a big flick for sure. Del Toro has been working his ass off for years and it seems like hes finnaly able to do whatever he likes now. Absolutely cannot wait to see this one.

devil's backbone is tremendous

i thought i was gonna love cronos and thought it sucked pretty bad.

very similar movies too.

hellboy was whatever, so i didn't know what to expect this go round, but i'm feeling very hopeful that its gonna live up to the hype

Yeah Cronos was kind of weak but it could have just been budget
constraints. I thought Helboy started well but lost it by the end.

Only thing I generally dont like about del toro is his overuse of that garish
piss yellow flood lighting he loves. especially how it makes latex makeup look
awful.

i've been crediting pedro almodovar's involvement with devil's backbone to be the reason its so good. it has a perceptible touch of sensuality that del toro's solo film's sorely lack.

if pan's labrynth is good it will be in a completely different way than devil's backbone as he finds his own voice rather than that of a far superior director's or some studio committee's

fuck, just finished watchin this badboy. thought it was pretty accomplished but i'm not feelin exactly uplifted right now. its fair grim - i'm not sure which was more disturbing of the narratives though, guess it depends if you're more affected by the idea of something unknown, or if you fear the inherent evils of human nature.
at least it got me thinkin..

definately easier to take seriously than hellboy though, which - lets face it - is about a big red guy with a coupla burgers stuck to his head.
