Grievous Angel: Billy Preston Dub / We Want Miles

Following on from the discussion about broken beat and jazz in dubstep in the main forum I thought I'd post a couple of recent tracks that are in that direction, sampling seventies fusion-era Miles Davies.
Billy Preston Dub was on one of Selector Dub-U's shows. I was thinking about how Kode9 talks about dubstep being focused on having massive sub-bass with anything you want on top, and I wanted to apply that to Miles in deep space mode. This tune therefore has oodles of round subs, but with a rhythm that's not exactly a regular dubstep beat - it's got a lot more strange swing. It's built around a lot of complex editing of Miles' Billy Preston tune, originally on Get Up With It, though I took the version on Bill Laswell's Panthalassa remix album. It's here:
http://www.grievousangel.net/Audio/Grie ... tonDub.mp3.
I then did
We Want Miles, a more straight forward dubstep tune which cuts the Miles samples down to breathless ghosts. It's probably a better tune in my opinion, It's here:

Let me know what you think.

billy preston dub is sick man, i much prefer that of the two, really deep and interesting. i like the rhythm a lot, the sample choices jar at first but then once you settle into it they work really really nicely. i really rate it a lot
we want miles i like a fair bit less, really nice percussion but the synths arent to my tastes. good tune, just not for me i dont think. although i really like some of the sample editing

Accidentally played 'We Want Miles' at -8 (Oops) on my show today, and it sounded amazing. Like the deepest chopped and screwed tune ever. I seriously might try and put together a mix at like -6 now. See what sounds good.
Billy Preston Dub is serious too, but I've got a thing for tunes that are clearly start off intending to big, and then get a bit experimental. Where as Billy Preston sounds like it meant to be experimental, and ended up big. That doesn't really make much sense does it? It just makes me sound like I hate anything pushing boundries, even if it's good. Damn. It worked better in my head.

Big ups for the 320. This is definitely the most serious track I've heard in ages. Very out there stuff. We Want Miles is a very chill track, I love the pad sounds used on it.
