lately been seeing alot of ppl from north america/other parts of hte world using phrases like "innit" "mate" "bruv" "ez" "bullocks" and others.

as a north american i feel its really no different then if i started usin phrases like "yo whatup my n*gga" i mean im not british/black so why would i say either? nah'mean cracka?

anyways... what are your thoughts?

it's ghey but tbf a lot of the guys based in the u.s on here are from london

yeah it's really weird, i guess i've just been reading DSF too much and now i just blurb out "oh that's a big choon bruva!"

my thoughts about the n word is that its a word that comes from hatred and struggle. its got nothing to do with innit, bruv or matey. you need other examples, because the n word doesn't make sense in your opinion.

his point is merely to say there are words only certain people should use....for many that word is just a way to describe their buddies

i can read, and i know his point, but you don't hear people from croydon calling each other n's, now do you. the example he's using doesn't make sense.

the n word comes from a lot of pain and suffering, and its a word thats abused every day here in america, and i have big problem with people taking it lightly as if its nothing. you use that here in NYC in certain situations, and you can get yourself killed.

sure...rightly so...i don't say it obviously

people taking it lightly is stupid but in a sense it's their right to remind themselves and us of what happened

im an american, and i think the word "bruv" rolls off the tongue nicely. its a good'un.

lol @ topic first of all, perhaps its because of where this kinda music came from and mc's using this kinda slang regularly during live sets, on radio show / mixes etc. can't blame people from another country picking it up.

the same way I feel about people using the word soda when they mean pop

well coming from the bronx/NYC where a lot of the verbal's out here is "ghetto" its been really tempting to exchange some words such as mate bruv etc. Then it doesnt help that two of my best homies in the scene are from the UK. I guess DUBSTEP carries the influences of its homeland wherever its being represented, which is a good thing if you ask me.

all n all, we all trying to ride the same wave my power buttons. The BIG KAHUNA is comin in. grab your boards and lets get it together my pastelitos.

I've seen some people type some shit that seems a bit off for their dialect but never really heard it.

i think of british tone all the time because i read people from the uk speak on here. its funny, i enjoy the tomfoolery.

it's exactly the same in the uk, and there is other places outside croydon.

I actually think its kool - this is an example of culture is spreading through the interweb - and this is great for people and for music. I got guys in our little NZ office listening to UK dubstep radio shows .... and they are "lovin it" and adopting the slang

Here in kiwiland, words like "bruv", "cuz", "mate", "bruva" and especially "bro" have all been in common use throughout the country. "Bro" got too long so we abbreviated it to "bo", sometimes spelt "bow" lol. Some of "kiwi" slang - is like "UK slang" and so on. My grandad is from the UK.
