Abstract music

I've been digging some fantastic abstract-ish electronic music lately, and I'm basically looking for any exciting recommendations out there. There's a label called Digitalis Recordings, and they're releasing some absolutely sublime stuff, lately a record titled 'Communication' by an artist called Bugskull. It's just phenomenal.

Also been listening to a lot of the stuff released on Leaving Records(.com), especially the head honcho over there, Matthew David, is making some fabulous stuff. I'm sure most of you will know of his remixes of Flying Lotus tracks and some stuff released from Dublab.

Anyone into any of this stuff and got any good recommendations? :)

that Bugskull is great stuff thank you!! :)

not sure if these are what you are looking for, but these suggestions would be 'abstract' over a variety of genres...

first my own band, masik...we play abstract jazz & experimental electronics...just played the Salvador Dali Museum...
www.myspace.com/masik420

also anything from ClouddeaD or any related entities(Dose One, etc) is pretty damn abstract...

Kaoru Abe is about as abstract as you can get, but thats just jazz.

also for older Abstract sounds try Tangerine Dream, St Captain Freakout & Acid Mothers Temple...
lots of psych jam crap but the ambient electronics they get into will fuck your mind proper :)

If you like the stuff on Digitalis, you should maybe listen to some tunes by Jasper TX. Very abstract, in fact most of it's usually improvs. The recent album he did with Anduin is great. May I also suggest Machinefabriek. Some of it turns out to be quite raucous, some of it is utterly sublime. Xela and A Broken Consort (Richard Skelton) also. Fennesz is about as abstract as it gets. His albums Endless Summer and Live In Japan are tops.

Oh, and before I forget, Taylor Deupree does some great abstract recordings. My personal favourites are Northern and Sea Last. Proper lovely, drifty stuff.

Indeed you did. Not everything on 12k is Taylor Deupree, and not everything that Taylor Deupree does is on 12k, or abstract either. But you're right - those two recordings are by him, on that label.
Without trying to split hairs I'm not sure why you'd tell someone looking for abstract music to listen to Raster Noton. There can't be many record labels that do un-abstract, programmed music better than them.

well he owns and runs the 12k label and the majority of the odd material on there is fantastic.

12K is one of my favourite record labels. I'm quite keen on some of Machinefabrieks stuff too. Have you listened to 'Under The Spires'?.............as a record label. They do well.

'Type Recordings' is worth a mention as a good, abstract label too. Lots of quality throughout.
