Anger

Post by jameshk » Mon Nov 30, 2009 6:56 pm

So, what do you guys do when you get angry?

There's two levels with me, one ill just act like a dick, generally shout, sometimes smash shit. But thats nothing a zoot can't cure.

The second one I loose all self control. I become a completely different person, the complete opposite to my usual personality, its fucking scary.

what about you lot?

I don't get angry that often at all.

Last time I got angry I punched my best mate in the face repeatedly.

and I had to have anger management when I was younger.

So what would you say is worse? letting it out gradually over time? Or letting it all build up until you do something drastic and which you'll probably regret (Im using the example of you punching your best mate in the face (I've acctually done the same once, but i only hit him once)).

On another note, do you all find you usually take it out on the people you love? Whats with that?

I think letting it out when other people are involved is bad. if you just hit a punch bag or something that's the best thing to do or channel into something productive like music.

I don't take it out on anyone anymore. I used to take it out on other people a lot, used to fight all the time then I used to take it out on myself (if you catch my drift) now I don't really get angry and when I do I just let it dissipate or hit the punch bag in the garage.

Recently i've just found anger so amazing, How it can turn people in to completely different people, even more effective than drugs.

I'll tell you a bit more about my background and why it facinates me. Before the age of 12 I consider myself to be a completely different person, Infact so much so I now have a mental block and can hardly remember anything from before then, not looking forward to those memories coming out.

About 12 was when i started learning guitar, making music etc. Thats how i've learnt to channel it now, my sadness, anger, everything. I can't make sence of alot of the feelings in my head, So I let the music try and explain it. Does that make any sence?

Its driven me to crazy place, at one point I had all theese feelings in my head, changing how I felt, dictating my mood etc, That I felt completely numb. I took it to a point where I was self harming to just feel soemthing again, even if it was pain.

Man, emotions are so facinating.

It depend's what and how i get angry tbh, i usualy keep it bottled when it's just word's. But if someone hurt's someone close to me i get violent.

For instance if someone is just calling me a tnuc and shit it dosent bother me, but if they say stuff like the IRA are freedom fighters i will snap there neck.

i usually get different states of anger, there's times when i just don't wanna talk to anyone and this is usually over drug's so it's essentially a comedown, then there's those time's when im just angered by another person, im alot calmer now that i've gone through my teen's but having a brother that was an absolute tnuc really didn't help when you've got so many thing's going through your head, i've ended up punching numerous wall's in spite of anger which was fucking stupid but it's the only thing to do when your so enraged.

I have a wank. Which is why I tell people, "you wouldn't like me when I am angry".

(Real answer.... don't generally get angry unless it is someone close to me who has hurt or has hurt me.)

I used to hit/break things as well but it wasn't a good look, these days I have a toke or go for a bike ride or run. I didn't used to smoke back then, I have noticed it has calmed me down a lot. I prefer that over some synthetic chemical a doc would want me to take everyday TBH... not that they are all bad, but I wouldn't want it every day.

I've never resorted to physical violence due to anger. Ok maybe one time when I was a kid and some guy had been pissing me off constantly for over a year. So I just grabbed him by the neck and squeezed till he went purple. He was quite a bit taller than me so not quite sure how that even happened. But that sorted that out.

I can however get verbally violent. Although I do try to avoid it. Shouting at your boss is not generally a good idea. And it usually doesn't do much to dissipate the anger anyway, just reinforces it as well as the behaviour. So more usually I just talk it out in my head for several days, mutter about a bit. The talk to someone who can do something about my source of anger. That usually sorts it out.

i cant really give many tips as my battle scarred hands and extremely long criminal record suggest i may need help...

but fuck anger management, some people need some serious 'act like a complete cock' management, then maybe i might stay calm and peaceful, as i usually am...
