I know this is more of a DJ setup question than a production question, so apologies ahead of time.

I was considering investing in a BCD-3000 midi controller and was wondering if anyone knew
if it was capable of receiving signal from 2 turntables and using them as the control media
for traktor scratch pro. Thats basically it.

I have looked into this a little, some string of 3rd party apps and virtual DJ if i remember correctly, but people had acheived it I THINK, it may have been a pair of uca things... WIll look further as I have one...

I use this when CDj's arent available. Its reaaaaly badly built, the the deck inputs sound wack. This said i can pull off some tight mixes using traktor (somes with LE)

investing is not really the best way of describing buying one of these, does the trick with trickitractor tho, plus you can re-write all the layout of the midi bits if you have the patience. I enjoy mine, but I have never owned any proper DJ equiptment so I have no reference point or comparisons. People enjoy using mine tho it has to be said.

thanks for the replies! i think ill probably pick one up seeing as how it's probably the cheapest controller i can find with it's own audio interface (headphone q what what)

about the input jacks though, someone said they were whack?
im not trying to spin records, just use the inputs for turntables with
the vinyl control surface on them.

this wont work. most digi vinyl control packages will require you to have a specific bit of hardware for it to work. IE the native instruments interface for traktor and the scratch live one for serato.

Deadly habit uses and knows a system called "ms pinky" that supposedly works if you have enough ins/outs on your soubndcard. drop him a pm, or im sure he will pipe up here soon

you can use traktor, torq, or vdj with asio drivers and it will work fine. serato has its own proprietary driver. not sure about ms. pinky. so yes you can use that bcd3000 as an interface for timecodes.
