Just started making dubstep. Please listen to G-spot and Dubstep beat 1 on my music page. Feedback and tips and pointers or comments greatly appreciated. You can be honest. Thanks. LK myspace.com/lilkato25

You have some pretty cool wobble but one of the amazing things about the dubstep genre is the feel and the rhythmic variation from any other music. Your beats are very straightforward. Also, typical tempo for dubstep is 140bpm. While nothing should ever be strictly adhered to in music, this tempo could be a good starting place.

my tempo is at 140. But what do you mean straightfoward like repetitive? Also what else should i had take away to future tracks? more blips and bloops? more synths? more bass? more fx? more eqing for sure... :) Thanks for the feedback also.

The wobble is sooo wicked!

Perhaps you could give the orchestral/flute melody half a sec of rest now and then to let the music breathe a little. The beat could perhaps use some variation, but not to much though. Maybe a fill (is that the correct word?) on the right spots. I usually play around with delays that I automate to set in for about a quarter of a bar or so where i feel some kind of tension or w/e is needed... I dont know what daw (or similar) that you use, but i guess there must be som kind of tool to randomly change the notes in the midi, applying that to small parts of the drumtrack can yield very interesting results as well. But perhaps you know all that stuff allready, but thats what I would do to the beat, rather than trying to reprogram anything or adding new loops, because i feel the beat is quite allright as it is... Anyway, im babbling now, so I rather stop here.

Hey thanks A lot for the great feedback and comments! Also I believe you are talking about the track named dubstep beat 1? Thats the one with the flutes...Anyway that was actually my very first dubstep beat made and the tempo is actually at 70 BPM! LOL... U r right about fills example snares, toms, claps? what kind of fill would you suggest? Also when you mean creat tension I understand what that means like the build up for the drop and that is the release... But is a little exampe of it on my track g-spot around 0:50 secs. ? Like is that what you mean by creat tension? Once again though thanks for the feedback you are the second person to say "mess around with delays" I know dub uses a lot of delay and reverb and now i think i am going to go nuts with the delays and reverbs and see what I come out with. Hahaha :) I really don't use them enough. Thanks

Just happy to be of any help... Yes, it was Dubstep beat 1, I talked about...

I dont think I can give any advice on wether you should toms or claps for youre fill, rather, try them both or just use what you allready got in the beat. Experiment and have fun, that probably the best advice I can give...

Tension: (G-spot) Moaning ladys allways creates a certain, erhm... tension. I used the word in its general meaning though. Sometimes an extra drumhit or two can create a little push forward or make it a little bit more interesting.

Delays: Just dive in! Once you started, youll think thats more fun than you had collecting the samples for G-spot, ;)

Thanks for the great advice again. I do have to spend way more time just experimenting instead of rushing to get a track finished. Although I just love WOBBLE! hahaha...... I do need more delay and also reverb and distortion. I will experiment. BTW the samples were done with a field recorder and in real time. LOL hahahha. Thanks Emm.

best advice ive ever been givin was just be an absolute perfectionist!! like i have 6 or 7 versions of a track sometimes, when you figure out what you doing just keep in mind your listener!
