FL9 VST Problems

so i've had this problem for a while, but been dealing with it.
well, i just got some new plugins and im tired of trying to work around this problem while trying to figure out these new synths.
PROBLEM = i can open up a new instance of almost any vsti, hold down a key and hear the note, BUT, if i turn a knob, slide a fader, or change ANYTHING in the patch, i can no longer hear sound when i press a key.
i have to then go to something else and open the vst AGAIN to be able to press keys and actually hear the sound.
so you can see how it is very frustrating, having to close and open the synth every time a make one slight adjustment.
IF ANYBODY CAN, PLEASE HELP ME FIX THIS

thanks....

Happens with me with massive, presume it's an FL thing as I have no trouble with it in any other daw, probably something with how the wrapper functions.

Doesn't happen to me and I have no problems with Massive either. Legit versions of FL and VSTs? Any particular VSTs?

I'd make sure you are loading the VST versions of the plugins. I know some plugins come as VST versions wrapped as DX or DXi plugins. You'd want to load the actual VST version. A lot of DXi versions of plugins do not load correctly in FL and their VST versions do.

Are using your computer keyboard to trigger the notes? If so then it happens with any non FL vsti. If your using a midi synth it doesn't happen. This is because when your using your computer KB and you tweak something on the vsti it isn't the active window anymore. IE the Channel window isn't the active window anymore.
To get around this just use a midi synth to trigger the sounds or after making tweaks just click back on the channel window (of course making sure your vsti is still selected) and use your computer KB to trigger the vsti.
An other work around is just to make a one or two note bar in the piano roll and just hit play while tweaking whatever it is that your doing. This way you can hear the changes in real time and don't have to worry about clicking back on the Channel window.

***** advice
i've been doing it like you sed, by just letting it loop and play with it, but fer some reason it just kinda fucks my vibe....
but yeah, i dont have a midi controller yet, so im just playing with the pc keyboard.
looks like it's time to make an investment
