trigger finger becoming unplugged during live set?

I've noticed, as well as a friend, that controllers like trigger finger or oxygen keyboard becoming unplugged from ableton and wont send midi unless you close ableton, unplug then replug controller back in. Not sure if this is an internal or external hardware problem, windows driver, ableton or pc specific issue(friend says it doesn't happen with macs) .
I read a thread that someone used a usb hub to fix this? Anyone have this problem or know any fixes?

your best bet is probably power supply + midi cables

Not sure whether you are saying that you are physically unplugging the controllers or that they are just losing their connection while still being plugged in. I know if you physically unplug a controller in most DAWs you will have to either restart the DAW or there is typically an option to rescan for midi devices to pick them back up. I know FL has an option to rescan midi devices and you have to do it if you plug a controller in after starting the software (won't pick it up unless it's plugged in prior to starting DAW). I don't see how a USB hub would solve that because if it got unplugged from the hub it's going to do the same thing. I'd imagine Abelton has an option to rescan for midi devices without restarting it like FL, but maybe not.

i forgot to mention
if you buy the midi cable and power supply and connect to your interface then if the midi cable comes unplugged you can just plug it back in and it works fine. well at least with my keyboard anyway. of course if your interface doesn't stay connected then you are back at square 1

Back to the topic... that really seems to be a PC thing... my homies that use macs don't have that issue... on the other hand... what are you doing that's got so much movement that you are gonna pull out your usb? I've never had that happen... andI bounce around like a madman.. i even rock the mpd like it's a guitar sometimes
