Not sure about MC's over dubstep at the moment...
What about a some female vocals? Female MC's?
Think this could work aslong as the music is allowed to breathe..
Opinions?

i don't think straight sung vocals would work on any of the types of dubstep that I've heard so far.
Space Ape's kind of beat poetry is fantastic though, maybe someone's got ursula andress in their phone book?

warrior queen is quite heavy even if some of her lyrics aint up to scratch.
would be sick to hear some yellowman style vocals over some of the half-steppy shit.

pokes a host, really. good with loefah but generally a bit limited (imagine pokes at fwd>> ?). crazy d a unique mc - melody, funny lyrics, not grimey and lets the tunes do their business. female vocals over and above general samples questionable - only works if production so wikid...

For me its all about Pokes and Crazy on dubstep.
They know about the music and can keep up with the job all night. Pokes at DMZ is heavy, Crazy a FWD is heavy.
I wouldn't mind hearing new mc's come through but they will more than likely go on like the grime mc's, and for me that wouldn't work in a dubstep rave. I heard skepta on a Digital Mystikz set at 333 club last year and he kept on getting thrown by the beats

I really rate Space Ape, Warrior Queen and RQM (Al Haca's MC) for dubstep vox.
Also keep an ear out for a vocalist Atki2's been working with called Indi... she's a classically trained Indian vocalist and is fantastic!

It is just a matter of time whilst mc's find their feet beat wise then i think that there will be a sharp increase in lyricists for better or for worse

Not sure about that. DMZ's policy on MC's at their parties is pretty clearcut. Basically they don't have em.
I think people expect to find MC's associated with dubstep because of its affiliation with grime and because of the conotations of its ancestral roots in Jungle and dub reggae.
But basically i really don't think its a sound that lends itself to full-blown MCing at all. Especially not in the context of the way DMZ etc etc are taking the sound right now.
Various names that have been mentioned in this thread are definately ones to watch out for. But i think in truth, when the heads go out to the parties, they go for the music. Dubstep is lead by sound not chatter i can't see that changing too much.

MC's/poets/vocalists can work on Dubstep easily.
Dubsteppers are sampling Indian vocalists a lot and it works. Anyting can work if u make it- if u decide BEFORE you've gone in that Dubstep doesnt work with vocalists then what chance is there of you KNOWING it doesnt??
It works and there's room for lyricists in this music, they just gotta catch the vibe and let the music feed them

Dj Collage (
http://www.discogs.com/artist/DJ+Collage ) or Tikiman aka Paul St. Hilaire (
http://www.discogs.com/artist/Tikiman ) or Daddy Freddy (
http://www.discogs.com/artist/Daddy+Freddy ) are very good MC's for electronic dub.
They all put their voices on Al Haca tracks and some of them with Meat Beat Manifesto...
So i am pretty sure those guys could make wonderful stuff with the uk producers.
My 2 cents
