USA Dubstep Scene?

Post by viewlike » Tue Dec 15, 2009 2:21 pm

Yo! So before I move to the States I've decided to visit my family over in Boston next spring. Im going to make the most of being their and try to visit as much of the east as possible. Anyone have any cool suggestions? Also Im really keen to see what the scene is like over there, so recommend me some dubstep parties to check out.

Well....if you're going to Boston, there's really not much going on tbh. I've been living in Boston the past 4 years, and the scene has been improving, we're gettin the occasional act. [Benga, FaltyDL most recently]
NYC is where its at, plenty of clubs have regular dubstep nights every so often, search the thread you'll find some.

Here's a link for dubstep/grime/funky in boston:

Move to Cali.
You will thank me later.
Here are my top 5 reasons to move to California.

#1-THE biggest dubstep scene in the states
#2- Best weather in the country
#3- Weed is Legal
#4- girl to guy ratio is just silly.. 8 to 1
#5- Beaches!

It's the bomb!
p.s.- San Diego is the number 1 tourist destination for microbreweries. 8)

But if you do get stuck in the northeast..
Go to Dubwar NYC and go see MR. NICE!

We've got the most uptight women.
So that's a plus.

First Sunday of the month at the Enormous Room in Central Square, Cambridge.
Also check out Bassic

And, Lost in Bass.

Harper's Ferry in Allston, is the bar where most of the "commercial dubstep" shows have been going down.
Don't park across the street because the impound lot is a LONG COLD WALK away.

If you want to hear some good old fashion live dub music, look around for Dub Station and John Brown's Body.

Sounds good to me! Unfortunately I am stuck in Pittsburgh :u: You guys could at least book me once in a while

Anyway, the US isn't a scene. This country is too spread out. A lot of little scenes here. People seem to be feeling dubstep all over though. I think it has only just begun.

Damn dude, that's awesome.. saving is starting to be important to me now that i'm not so young anymore...

I think I could get a carboard box in Waikiki for that much.. it would at least have the potential to be a beachfront box. natural lighting, central air. hey people do rock that style on the other end of the island...

It is the reason a lot of people have been moving here. Our housing market actually went up when it was crashing everywhere else. You would be amazed at what you can get for your money here. People are finding out. Saving money is a pipe dream tho, the economy is affecting my business in a bad way. Sitting at home right now because there is no work for a couple of days. Happy Holidays bullshit. I can barely afford food let alone presents for everyone. :i: sorry for the rant

Nah, not everywhere. Lots of the 'burbs have rents in line w/ the rest of the country (more or less) - but as I live in SF, which has about the most ridiculously inflated rents in the entire country after Manhattan - all I can say is THANK GOODNESS FOR RENT CONTROL! :D

Oh, and the thing about California weather is totally relative. San Diego's weather pisses me off. Too fucking hot! I likes it cool & breezy. Gives me an excuse to wear poorly coordinated layers.

It's not the U.S., but if you do get to travel - and since they're a member of the Commonwealth so entry will be EZ for ya - definitely check out Vancouver, BC. That place rules.
