Post by kesOh » Fri Dec 18, 2009 10:17 am

can anyone lead me in the right direction on info about the dub sound of reggae. I know king tubby is popular for producing and pushing the dub sound. can someone name some of the pioneers of the sound and current artists who are doing the same?

Pioneers......

Joe Gibbs
Duke Reid
Glen Brown
Augustus Pablo
Prince/King Jammy
Scientist
Sly & Robbie
Lee Perry/Upsetters

Today some of those folk are still going strong pushing fresh Dub plus there are new talents although alot of them have been doing this thing for a while too.....

Mad Professor
Smith & Mighty (Rob Smith now makes amazing Dubstep under the name RSD)
Rhythm & Sound
Sofa Surfers
Kruder & Dorfmeister
Thievery Corporation
Howie B
Ticklah/Easy Star All-Stars
Techno Animal
Bill Laswell/Jah Wobble............

The list really could go on and on and on due to the massive imapct "Dub" has had on modern music.

3 "new" Dub albums I'd really recommend checking out are.............

"Sly & Robbie Strip To The Bone By Howie B"

Sofa Surfers "Cargo"

Rhythm & Sound "See Mi yah"

These are all very different modern Dub albums which is great as you can really hear the different directions this music has gone........ they are all absolutely brilliant and a fantastic place to begin with the modern version (no pun intended) of Dub.
