This month Tektronik is 1 year old! As a big thank you to everyone who's supported us over the last year, we are moving to the Rescue Rooms for our birthday celebrations and bringing you 4 NOTTINGHAM DEBUTS - IKONIKA, GINZ, JAY 5IVE and RAZOR REKTA !!!

ROOM 2 - THE RED ROOM - hosted by FLUX SESSIONS in association with SHELTER

Due to the unfortunate cancellation of the Step FWD dubstep charity event that was due to take place on 30th January, this room will showcase 4 of the acts that featured on that line up. I.E - some of Nottingham's most forward thinking electronic music producers.

Shelter is a charity that helps people in homeless situations and gives them a means of finding accommodation. Donations will be taken throughout the night in aid of Shelter and all that are made will be hugely appreciated!

★ MARY ANNE HOBBS ★

Mary Anne Hobbs is best known as an evangelist for underground music. Her prestigious career has seen her travel from the world of music journalism to being one of the most respected tastemakers and BBC Radio1 DJs today. Her ‘Dubstep Warz’ show for Radio1 in January 2006 is widely regarded as the show that broke the dubstep sound globally.

To this day, Mary Anne continues to push the boundaries of electronica on an international scale, playing sets round all over the world and also presenting her weekly experimental dubstep show on Radio1. Viewed by many almost as a maternal figure in the dubstep movement, Mary Anne is bound to play a set you won't be forgetting anytime soon!

★ IKONIKA ★

Hyperdub has a habit of unearthing new talent and following the likes of Burial comes Ikonika - one of the most exciting artists of recent years. At the age of 11 Ikonika started playing the drums in metal bands whilst at the same time listening to Hip-Hop, R&B and Garage and this genre raiding is clearly evident in her melodic yet percussive dubstep productions.

Kode9 quickly recognised her unique and distinct style and signed her to his prestigious Hyperdub imprint in 2008. She has subsequently had a further 2 releases on Hyperdub and has had releases on both of the top 2 experimental dance labels, Planet Mu and Warp. With the release of her album quickly approaching, 2010 is set to be the biggest year yet for Ikonika and we’re chuffed that she’s making her Nottingham debut at Tektronik!

★ GINZ ★

Bristol-based Ginz does EVERYTHING! He manages Multiverse Music which owns 7 labels including Meat Katie’s Lot49, Kapsize and most importantly, TECTONIC which he himself co-founded with DJ Pinch. On top of this, he’s an accomplished producer with about 45 releases and remixes to date. He’s made breaks under the alias 30HZ, techno under the alias Emptyset, electro with Baobinga under the alias The Body Snatchers and now Dubstep under the alias GINZ!

He’s recently been working with Joker, the dubstep wonderkid whose name is on the tip of everyone’s tongue at the moment, and together they have caused a huge stir in the last year with distinct releases such as Purple City and Stash. Ginz’s music industry connections, previous production successes and the fact that he’s already collaborating with a dubstep heavyweight mean that he is odds-on to become a serious dubstep player in 2010.

★ JAY 5IVE B2B RAZOR REKTA hosted by G DOUBLE & PURPLE ★

Those of you who are familiar with Anti Social Entertainment will know exactly who these two DJs are! For those who aren’t, ASE is a collective of producers, DJs and MCs from London renowned for their futuristic, jazzy and soulful take on dubstep. Jay 5ive's weekly podcast on the world's biggest dubstep radio station, rinse fm, has earnt him huge respect throughout the scene. Like the rest of ASE, Razor Rekta stops by on the regular to assist on the decks!

Playing in Notts for the first time, expect tight mixing from this pair and some serious dubplate artillery with brand new productions from the likes of Mala, Silkie, Quest, Kromestar, Heny G and many more... This set is NOT one to miss. YEAR 3000 BOOGIE !!!

★ GEIOM ★

The man behind Nottingham imprint Berkane Sol needs little introduction... Over the last couple of years, his productions have been heavily supported on Mary Anne Hobbs' Radio 1 Experimental show, as well as earning refixes from the likes of Skream, Kode9 and Shackleton. Since starting up, his label has seen releases from other budding artists in the Notts area such as Brackles, Shortstuff and Spam Chop.
