hey

can anyone reccomend me a good studio mixer?

ive been checking out some new ones by Phonic, Soundtracs,Tapco and Mackie.

Anyone had any experience with any of these brands?

I want to use the mixer for making dub and want to know what mixer has a good sound to it

cheers

If that's the price range of mixers you're looking at I woudn't bother.

nah go for it man, no need to be a sound quality purist when you're making dub. keep it rough and raw.
i'd go for an old second hand soundcraft or something. yeah they're not top of the range by any means, but they do the job and you will be able to sell it on for the same price you bought it :)

i've not been impressed with any of the 'new' (relitavely) mixers by behringer or tapco etc...

i'm no mixer expert but had a quick fiddle with a 16-channel mackie once and was really impressed. mackie don't slack when it comes to build quality.

nothing lower than soundcraft--see if you can find a used ghost. and expect to spend a good amount of $ on a/d/d/a conversion as well, to make it worth it.
