Any Reinforced heads here?

Post by mks » Mon Jan 11, 2010 9:30 pm

I know this is a dubstep board, but I've been a huge Reinforced Records fan for years and find myself continuously going back to those records. They have definitely influenced a lot of my productions across many styles including dubstep. Any other Reinforced heads on here?

Fuck yeah. That 'Enforcers' series turned me on to a lot of artists I still dig to this day, stuff like Seiji, Paradox...

Cuba by Paradox quite literally changed my life.

Yeah same here, with regards to influencing me as well for sure. I still listen to a lot of the Reinforced tunes. I always seem to go for the Paradox, Breakage, Alpha Omega, 4 Hero, the Tom & Jerry stuff, Nookie, Digital, Genotype,.. etc etc. To many classics to mention em all.
Also Black Secret Technology is amazing and I still listen a lot as well, though I don't think Reinforced had a hand in it did they? Think he released that himself.

Nebula2 booked me to play a gig at their party last year, I was well chuffed:)

Been into oldskool for time and still love digging deep in the crates for my oldskool collection.
Don’t worry about people stealing an idea. If it’s original, you will have to ram it down their throats.

One could possibly argue that without Reinforced (and other labels like them), there wouldn't be Planet Mu. Possibly.

Altho it is a good label I still do not think it compares to labels like R&S, D-Jax and Kickin. Shit, theres loads of quality oldskool labels tho really.

Cannot rem who was telling me but I think Reinforced were doing a remix thing not long ago that involved giving out stems from old releases. I will ask em later.

Love Reinforced and also Moving Shadow.

Good link here for old school heads

http://www.dev1ous.com/reincarnation.html

Loads of sets from re-incarnation back in the early 90's. 20yrs ago!!! F*ck me how time flies! It was in my home town on Herne Bay seafront. I was only 15 but security used to let us in for the last hour after we had spent the whole nite dancing outside the back doors. first taste of raving and it was alot of proper hardcore. People in jester suits and crazy get ups.

Makes me feel proper old now tho. My next big birthday is 40!!!!!! :( :( :(

All free to download

Ahh Memories :r:

You're right in what you say.

But R+S were primalrily a Techno/Trance/Electronica label with stuff from all over from Aphex Twin to Jam and Spoon and Sun Electric as well as Joey Beltram, (R+S also had an ambient offshoot label called 'Appollo' with releases by Model 500, David Morley, Biosphere, Andrea Parker and others) not D+B like Reinforced and its mutant strains. DJax same thing, most certainly a Techno label, with Luke Slater, Ismytik, DJT1000 etc. (Alan Oldham a.k DJT100 used to do the label artwork too)
Kickin' from what I remember did a lot of more Hardcore rave stuff, I don't have any of thier releases so can't comment on it.
You're right there's loads of unsung labels we could go on about like Rising High, Moving Shadow (mentioned) Creative Source, Metalheadz, Suburban Bass, Full Cycle, Street Beatz, Fallen Angels, Formation, V Recordings and so on for the D+B that put out some classic material.
Many of which I still find myself rinsing.

Cool, it's not an exhaustive list by any means. I probably left out another 60 or so labels!

Maybe you were thinking of Kniteforce...They gave out a lot of their stuff, but with limitations:

If not that, maybe something forthcoming on the Back 2 You remix comps:

For me listening to a lot of their old stuff inspires me to want to experiment and innovate rather than just following what other people are doing.

I was just listening to Alpha Omega's album "Journey To the 9th Level" and that album is heavy. It's also looking to where he was about to go with Nubian Minds. It's 10 years old now and still sounding good to me just like many other Reinforced releases going all the way back to the early 90's.

@ Wormcode and Monday's Child: Black Secret Technology is indeed a great album and another one that I go back to a lot. It was released on Gerald's own Juicebox label but there is a bit of a Reinforced connection. The track Energy from that record appeared on the Reinforced comp "Jungle Book - Intelligent Minds of Jungle". Also, I think the artwork for that album was done by the same person that did a lot of the Reinforced artwork.

@ Alphacat: Hell yeah, those Enforcer series albums are the shit!

I know, I sat in on some of the early sessions for that LP. :)

Ahh ur talking about the DnB! I dont like DnB apart from the really old stuff!

What I have on Reinforced is Techno and Breakbeat but not DnB;) yeh ur right too, Kickin was a bit like Rising High, Edge Records, Hardcore and TEchno and some Hard Acid.

Same with some of the other labels you have mentioned too. I know Metal Headz has some badboy DnB I use to like tho too!
