Nanopad or LPD 8?

so which one should i go for?
i dont think the extra pads on the nanopad will be of much use, 8 should be enough for me, but i dont think the knobs on the lpd 8 will see too much action either, as i have a bank of knobs on my keyboard which never get used...
so really i guess it comes down to the build quality and feel of the pads, which makes me lean towards the lpd 8 becuase of the akai pad pedigree....
can anyone else offer any advice?
cheers guys

I haven't used either, but you're forgetting to take the Nanopads X-Y pad into consideration. I'd assume that's a huge part of the Nanopad that the Akai hasn't got.

nanopad sucks mate you are better off getting something else imo. my nanopads keys are really funky and it usually has terrible delay. but yea I have had the keys pop off and stuff and I would be much happier with something that had assignable nobs. don't get the nanopad. the only plus to it is that it is very very tiny and weighs less than two pounds.

youre right i completely forgot about that! im not sure how useful it would actually be though... what would it actually be used for? could i assign it to they xy pads you get in the devices rack thing at the bottom of ableton? does it have more powerful applications than this?

hmmm ok thanks a lot for that, tbh id rather go with something thats gonna stand up to a bit of light abuse than something with bells and whistles... did you find you used the x-y pad on it much?
thanks both for your advice!

i just baught the akai lpd8 and lpk25...both rock solid units for that price; much better quality than ive expected!
really feel good those two; imo.
the korg nanos are much worser in build quality - i did a side 2 side check in the shop! also read a lot of issues especially with the xy-pad..but all in all they really felt very cheap, holding them in my hands..so i went with the akai´s.
the lpk25 mini keyboard is actually really fun

x-y pad i feel would only be useful for live fx manipulation, but you may have other ideas in mind. but as far as build quality, akai or die! lol. but seriously, heard horror stories about nanopads shtting out every couple months.

my nanopad only seems to work when using it for fx, pads, etc. for drumming its near impossible seeing as after owning it for 3 months it now has some sort of awful delay between the time i touch the pad and the sound triggering, and from what i hear im not the 1st person who has encountered this problem. i must say the x-y pad is very fun and can create some crazy sounds though....akai ftw.

So, not too jack a thread, while werre on the nano series, how bout someone tell me whether or not I should og out at mignight when my cash clears n buy a nano kontrol?
I dont much care how the fades feel, I use my 4 channel for on and offs, its easy nuff to reduce to a few less stems and just use a real mixer... but I need something to control effects on offs, lfo rates n effect params, ect. So, all those knobs and buttons sound appealing for 60 bucks...

i've sent many many korg nanos back to vendor because of defects. basicly user error as far as them being aggressive with the gear or just them breaking.. Dont tell me your not going to beat up on your gear, your full of it; that saying getting the akai would last longer and has better quality in feel/preformance. dont be cheap cause your gear will be. they're the same price
