so how long have you been producing for?


and how long did it take you to know you were making good track's?

around 3 years now, i would say i make decent shit, but the most important thing is i still enjoy it

Got reason 1.0 when it came out, around 9 years ago, still love producing!

Producing about 5 years but Djing for about 13.

About a year and a half

IDK... cause i started learning music and dj theor three years ago, but actually started makin stuff within the last year or so... n its only been my last couple songs ive felt were worth publishing, now, some people around me disagreed before then, but my sound hadnt got where I wanted it yet... never trust the ones that come to you n say 'Thats sick'... n savor the ones who say 'I dig that delay'...

Same, though I never stuck with Reason and moved to more "traditional" DAWs. Would like to try it again sometime though. Had a really good time with trackers back then as well.

About a year. Perhaps just under a year considering the first 2 months weren't really 'producing', more like pissing about in Reason.

I'm into producing for less than a year now. working in Reason 4.0. When i finally thought i mastered the basics, i figured i need musical theory knowledge to create better harmonies. Also makes specific stuff a lot easier imo.
Getting there slowly, but i think it's hella fun.
Best thing i learned in the process is not to work on one song for too long!

I got my first set up in '99, Cubase Jurrasic edition, EMU E6400, Waldorf Pulse, a Mackie mxing desk and some Yamaha NS10's. However it quickly transpired it was going to be harder than I first thought, and I was more interested in girls and getting wasted... My attention span wasn't exactly top drawer back then and I was bang into the DJ-ing side of things. Though I did a condensed course at Pointblank and dabbled, I never really got off the ground. Then I sold everything when I moved to Greece (again, chasing skirt), a decision I still kick myself for on pretty much a daily basis (particularly as she turned out to be a tramp)

I've dabbled again since, but always fleeting, always half hearted, and although mid-2008 I met a guy who was into producing and sparked my interest again it's only since I turned 30 I realised I had been a total tnuc and needed to sort my shit out, this was something I really wanted to do, but I just hadn't had the focus to make it happen (much to my mates disgust, as for some reason he was convinced I had music in me and I was doing myself a huge disservice)...

So, properly I have been doing it around 8 or 9 months I guess. It ain't easy to get the studio time in with a full time job, wife, a kid and another on the way, but I am doing an evening course in music production and working hard at it when I can, trying to make up for lost time.

As it happens, things really are starting to come together, I'm a long way off having a track I am truly pleased with, but I am proud of each one so far and each time they turn out a little better

This is spooky. I'm exactly the same! apart from my set up in 99 was a yamaha 03d, Emu proteus, Roland 1088. akai 30000.

Bought most of it off cause for concern when they hit the big time. Then realised it was actually alot harder than i first thought. Liked raving more than studying!

Again dabbled with reason when it came out and then got to 30yrs and thought F*ck it i'll give it a proper shot this time and bought a mac pro with logic.

Bin about a year at it and getting better every day.

Never went to Greece tho

im guessing your referring to me and yeah its been just about a year now and im glad i started this and i love the community. i did post the WIP of a song in the finished section i want you to check cuz ive gotten little to no feedback on it. its different from my other songs cuz i was playing final fantasy 7

Started off on a just a Peavey DPM synth/workstation/sampler (with no inputs) and an Atari ST... or even before that an Amiga and an 8bit sampler cartridge.



Things took sooo much longer to do in those days, plus no internet for advice/tutorials/vsts/samples etc.... oldschool.

Prob happy enough to play stuff to people after a couple of years, but even now i think what i did a year or two ago was shite... always improving, but def an exponential curve.
