What do you use for your delay/echo/reverb when mixing?

Post by wholo » Tue Jan 19, 2010 3:27 pm

Quick question, trying to work out what pedals/effects units would be best for adding delay/echo/reverb to live mixes. At the moment at home, I have a djm800, but theres no way im taking that everywhere i go!

I play roots dub/steppas/reggae, so something to maintain that dubby sound would be good...something to plug into any mixer thats at the club/radio..easy to set up, not too big

someone recommended me boss dd20..the pioneer efx units are just too expensive...

any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

yeah dubstation is a great and v cheap plugin.

soundtoys echoboy is meant to be awesome but a lot more expensive.

I use the UAD RE201 plugin, which is also very bad, but needs a dsp card so not cheap at all... got dubstation as well tho, well worth the $30 or so...

hardware-wise, the green line6 pedal is great for delays, and the electro-harmonix holy grail is a wicked reverb.

thanx Sharmaji!

So you think these two pedals (dl4 line6 & the holy grail) are good for dj'ing purposes?

If you wanted to use both effects though (not necessarily at the same time, but in one mix/performance), how would that work, cos surely on a djm600 (for example), you could only plug one send/return effect in at the back

(or am i completely wrong)

would you favour these over the kaoss pad?

Cheers!
