Easy people, can you beleive we're into our third week already?! The last couple of weeks have been a bit of a whirlwind, with two great parties and two fantastic sets from APPLEBLIM for our launch and DJ ONEMAN last Monday. This week looks set to carry on that trend with two of the scenes quickly rising stars UNTOLD and SHORTSTUFF!

If you have yet to be impressed by Untold, you must not have been paying much attention to bass music in 2009. The man behind the beats, Jack Dunning, has been experimenting with production since 1993, in the early days of jungle, but it’s in the last two years that he has become a hugely influential producer, earning the respect needed to play the coordinating role of label boss of Hemlock Recordings. As he says: "I hope dubstep continues to be hard to pin down, disobeys its manifesto, gets called stupid names, gatecrashes other scenes and spikes the punch, elopes and has lots of children."

Shortstuff started producing in 2003 when University friend Brackles lent him a copy of Fruity Loops. After installing it on his computer, the pair started writing music together, bouncing ideas and influences off each other. The first track they finished, 'Broken Harp', recently released on Pollen Records, was picked up by Appleblim and Geoim and marked the beginning of their rise to prominence. Since then, Shortstuff's productions have featured on labels like Berkane Sol, Planet Mu and Ramp Records, getting support from the likes of Diplo, Sinden, Ramadanman and Mary Anne Hobbs. An impressive set of performance bookings has followed, including sets at Fabric and WhyNot? in London. With several more releases planned this year and having also developed his own 'Blunted Robots' imprint with Brackles , Shortstuff is fastly developing into the producer he was widely tipped to be and is set to make serious waves across the scene.
