Hello everybody. I am really stuck on Dubstep now. I have been spinning Breaks, Trance and DnB for about 12 years and Dubstep has kind of stuck to me like white on rice now. I dig it because it takes some of the most mellow chilldown styles of music and makes them angry or at least that's how I see it. I am looking for any tips or pointers on mixing dubstep. I perfer mixing DnB by both beat matching and transitions between the heavy breakdowns in the tracks. Break beats is strickly based off the kick or snare which makes it pretty easy. Dubstep seems to have the bass carry the track but also has the snare to beat match. Not quite sure what direction to go with. Also I am def looking for a bunch of names to download tracks for mixing. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I have been running through a bunch of youtube videos of a lot of Dubstep tracks. My fav has to be La Roux In for the Kill mix and also a few remixes done of prodigy, Deftones and Portishead. I am pretty eclectic when it comes to style. Been diggin Skirmish, Tanka and a lot of remixes. Any idea is very welcome. Kind of dig the really hardcore grimy basslines mixed in with the great vocals and downtempo feel, well I guess that is a lot of dubstep then. haha. Thanks guys.

Yeah i heard bout this guy Skirmish a while ago as well. Definatley an upcoming producer to keep an ear out for. I think i see a poster for him doing a night in Brighton....
