The internet is going crazy for this thing, never seen anything like it in 15 years, news sights are even slower than when the US got pwned by terrorists. Hopefully they'll do a Microsoft and sell it at a loss and recoup the losses in applications and subscription costs. If it's less than £500 I am buying one.
So far so meh... I mean, it's better than any other NetBook, but I still can't quite see the point in that form factor. My iPhone fits in my pocket and can do most stuff I'd need to do on the move... that's too big to carry around unless you've got a bag, and in which case, you might as well have a proper laptop with all it's functionality.
Although I've only seen a snippet of the presentation; I have a feeling I'll be made to watch it in full by my gadgetophile housemate later - perhaps he'll convince me.

i think to fully appreciate you have to be cracker who wears a roll-neck sweater and nod sagely whilst sipping a 'skinny latte to go' with your work colleagues.

what this device does is incredible, it browses the web, and it is phenomenal. an entire webpage on one screen,
derp derp..... erm, I was doing that in 1994 with mosaic by pressing F11 and it was pretty much the same thing, you can't reinvent the wheel you twat. Just shit the fuck up and give me the fucking ipad so i can head straight to red tube.

10 hours battery life is pretty nifty... but apart from that... I dunno. No 3G means you can't take it to the park or anywhere, so you're stuck to Wi-Fi enabled places.
Underwhelming.
Still, I bet it'll sell shitloads.

Yeah, the lack of Flash support is kind of a headscratcher. I'll pass.

Ditto to that, magma. But in typical Apple style they'll release successive "generations" with smaller upgrades each time as to keep people buying it. The lack of 3G kills it dead for me, no one really uses bluetooth do they? I have a bluetooth keyboard and mouse but that is it.
I love my ipod third gen touch but unless this is very competitively priced then it's just going to be another toy for neophiles.

Further - no 3g; no native PDF support; no multitasking...
WTF are they thinking?
Best iPad Joke so far: "2001 called. They want their tablet PC back."
And then you've got to wonder if nobody at all at Apple watches TV anymore... this skit came out a while ago.

3G
iPad will also be available in a 3G model, with super-fast data speeds up to 7.2 Mbps.3 So if you’re traveling, or you happen to be somewhere that doesn’t have a Wi-Fi network, you can still get a fast connection for surfing the web, downloading email, or getting directions.
