Said it before, said it again... anyone who says this doesn't really get the culture. MCs have always been a part of DnB, garage, dubstep etc. Find people who pick & choose the bits of a culture/style they like and then try dictate that as the way things should be pretty annoying to be real
Anyway... if you like dubstep MCing, check out

dnb mc just ruin it live i find as you end up with 100 mc's all constantly mcing over the music and it kills the music. you can't hear it or even fully understand what the mc's are saying. Dubstep mc's are good and bad, they're more chilled out and just hype the crowd and intereact rather then trying to mc over everything and dominate.

Yeah, I was trying to agree with the guy, but jheeez - that second post is slightly incoherent
On another note... talking about "bumming out" MCs means something VERY different over here!!

I don't like it much when the MC is constantly talking over the song, but at the right time its awesome. Dread MC is really good, every time I've seen him MC to DnB/Dubstep anyway

agreed - it takes not only the ability to flow, but to know when not to flow, to be a good mc imo. there was a seven mix that was ruined by the mc saying the same thing throughout the entire mix, but people like crazy d just add that element to the mix that puts it on another level.

I pesonally hate it and i just dont understand the added musical enjoyment it gives the person listening, at all.
When in the club it creates a hugely dark and negative vibe due to the MC shouting violent and ego filled lyrics over what would useally be positive and upbeat music, and it also means that the dancefloor just becomes a ego based sausage fest with a load of white wannabes acting like theyre the fucking shit.
I dont know whether its just our local scence or what, but our MCs have NO clue about drops, breakdowns, bars and timing, they just shout their ego fuelled rap with stuff involving guns, knifes violence and how big and bad they or there gang is, never giving respect to the soundsystem, DJ or the crowd. They also bring unwanted crowds which turn the night into a place where you constantly have to worry about being mugged or whatever.. where you left your bag etc.
Also as a DJ i find it impossible to concentrate as they even MC OVER VOCALS, i mean c'mon.
When listening to radio DJ's talk shit about big ups or whatever i feel that i completely RUINS the experience.. especially when its at a loud volume. Who wants to hear someone talk shit over a great tune? not me.
By the way i would just like to add that i do not mind MCs rapping over Grime as i know that this music was somewhat made with this in mind, it works for a start and grime MCs also tend to have some rythem, even if they are still talking about their egos.
I just wish that MCs would leave our genre alone and let everyone in the dance focus on enjoying the music, and not have to listen to an individual talk about how great they are.
Only kidding i think they're mint really.

really an MC a true poet of wordz doesent bost or talk about how tight they are or how many girls they got or how hella big there rims are, haha well thats my perspective on MCin but lil wayne young joc all those fake ass rappers are not MCs there just egotistical dumbasses with no wisdom whatsoever talkin bout hos clothes and bank rolles. but u see there are fukin ill poets, hip hoppers, MCs out there u just gotta find them mainly underground one im really into right now is saul williams he has a lot of truth but the idea of the MC to me is to work with the music the croud and the dj to create somthin totaly new unless its a hip hop cd when its just the MC. but the thing here is dubstep is an instrumental music and not all of these instrumentals are spitable or need to have anything but the bass nok in its own essence but an MC in my words is the Master of his Craft and or Master of Ceramonies whateva they just betta know how to listen when to speak and yes when not to but i have bin beatboxing and spitin poetry since i can remember so not all MCs have this understanding tho some MCs are hella agro..

dont mind some mc's but dubstep is really instrumental music imo, so as long as the mc is letting it breath fully and not crowding it then its cool.

I think dubstep has good MCs mostly because they promote positive vibes, they're not very egotistical and sometimes they provide useful information such as producer IDs or other goings on. They can make you laugh sometimes as well by joking around with the DJ etc. Having said that, they can do things that are slightly annoying which is why you like some more than others and some you just don't like at all. lol
Some of the ones I like are Dread MC, Toast and Crazy D...

I love a proper MC over anything.
That being said... a PROPER MC
Good rhymes, good interaction with the crowd, nice style... doesn't let all his boys on the mic.
And probably MOST importantly:
Letting know when to just let the mixes and tracks ride. Shut the eff up for a while and let the music and the DJ do their work.
But I'm also a huge hip-hop head and love me some good rhymin'
I'm actually working with a local cat here in Indianapolis named College Youth... from 'round Cayman way
We've got some nice heat in the oven.

well i think when u make that choice to become a MC ya know thats not ur boyzz choice thats urs ur the MC not them , and if a dj gives ya know the big ups to u for ur talent on the mic why put some wack ass on just to make u look like an idiot, Cause to be honest lots of cats who say there top dog are really a immature puppy who can barely wlk let alone bark. and the only dude i rhyme with is 3rdi me and that cat are workin on some hip hopy stuff to get started cause hes more tha dj im more tha mc/beatboxer i dream of mad beatz but my fam and i are hella broke so all i got is a mic and some stamina and a mad love for dubstep and DNB eventually ill be gettin some equip but for now im just layin over my bros tracks..
MCs are a dime a dozen if that
