when you send a finished product to a record label or artist....are they really going to take the time out to listen to your tune?????

or do they just bullshit cuz they get so many people sending them tracks.....

like just imagine how many people send shit to kode 9 and think their the next zomby.....

it almost makes me wanna stop producing to even try and get recognition.....THIS ISNT WHY I STARTED IN THE FIRST PLACE HOWEVER..... i just loved making music......but it makes me want to only exclusivly do it for myself and friends

if your doing something special people will recognize that..

if you think you have something to offer that is new fresh and different, send it out. if yer makin bangers get outta toown!

Fuck em dude, I like independant shit, fuckin start your own brand outta your crew. Ill be your first customer... I see alot of people doing this, getting someone in the crew with distributor access, n just channeling through them... dubplate culture.

Of you can spin an original selection of dubstep. I'm not sure what you mean with original flavour....

I said, if you want to be original, just make music, and don't go for a certain genre.

I define dubstep as 70bpm bass music, influenced by dub. Since 2007 starting to evolve into robotsex.


Anyways, I was semi-joking when I said he should not be making dubstep.

EDIT: I re-read your posts, and it seems like you think this is about mixing... What I meant with my first post was that quality wise it should "fit" between a rusko in a mala track without standing out.

am sure if your making a good track some labels will listen and take you on..

Personally if I were running a label Id listen to anything sent in but it must be a temptation just to scalp the high numbers on soundcloud or whatever.

Anyone can make music now - fewer than ever are making a real living at it tho.

If you really wanted to make music because you love it then really you shouldnt worry about some music mogul popping up and offering you the world on a plate.

Id just find some sort of niche where you can work in music but keep producing for yourself ... like the other posters said if its quality it will stand out but dont expect a dub step loving fairy godmother to pay yer rent

But I dont hear spectacular anything out of rusko, mala, yeah talent, but, eh...

Too many flavors man... Everything from Taiko Riddim (Which is a great example of unique style n flavor)... over too rusko, back to vaski, slide to lebelge electrod, then check some of stenchs shit, n hit the HENCH plates up while your at it... Oh... n then go listen to some dayn n dala... pick up burials album...

N these all have what? A completely different grading scale of this elusive quality you so speak of. N its like I said, what is dubstep? 140bpm syncopated bassmusic, first developed in UK dancefloors, huh? Pretty vague... N you cant use artists, which have different merit style technique and sounds, to class music as quality. But you also cant run around n try n call this brostep n that medi n that crunkstep n that aggy... Cause they are all syncopated bass music, and give a DJ a few minutes, n they can, in theory, all work, because it is such a BROAD, VAGUE genre.

Cause at the end of the day, Daladubz n Burial n Lebege n Forsaken are all quality... n really none of em fit next too Rusko... so.. meh. Its not subgenres. Its atmospheres from artsts.

Well first of all, I'm not talking about mixing.

Secondly, I'm not talking about different styles and flavours or dubstep.

I also don't hear anything spectacular from Rusko and Mala, but they do make quality tunes. I don't think Lady GaGa's producers are spectacular, but you can't deny the beats are good.

I'm talking about the quality of a tune. You can hear the difference between a track I have made, and a track made by a big time producer. Mixing. Mastering. Structure.

You're right about DJ's making or breaking a song, but still... Skream is a horrible DJ ( no offence mate, I suck more than you probably :> ), yet his shows are nice.

Quality is not such a vague term as you think. Listen to any beat that is in the top 40. Why do they sound so nice? Those kicks got pop even through 90's TV speakers! it's because the experienced producers and engineers worked hard on it, and fine tuned the hell out of it.

My flavours are rather abstract, I listen to anything I like. My favourite artist is The Flashbulb. As for dubstep, my favourite producers are Tes La Rok and Subscape.

As for my own productions, I prefer to make mellow dubstep tunes. I enjoy making filthy bass patches, but I never end up using them.

This is just a snippet of a tune I did some time ago, really busy with work lately and haven't been making music since. Except for some patches.

I like making music, why anyone else needs to be involved, I don't know. I don't really let people listen to what I do. Not because it's some big secret, making music is just what I do, and other people don't factor into that. I don't even make songs, I don't like making songs, I just like making beats, little sections, whatever. I'm fine if no one ever hears a single second of my music for the rest of my life. Except my daughter. I'd like her to have something to remember me by, some kind of rosetta stone with which to understand me (and by extension, herself).

Eh... So true... this leads too the producers as djs n djs as producers arguement huh?

Producers think wy too much like producers to be in charge of straight mutating sounds, n not only that, Ive heard some (Sorry skream, his productions are ace though) that just CANT beatmatch... much less effect n sculpt.

But then again, I dj then produce, so eh. It shows too. so. Cant talk.
