What does techno mean to you?

To me, if I hear the term "techno", the first music that comes to mind is what a lot of people would call "hard techno"

Aside from techno's rich history, when someone talks about techno, what's the first thing that comes to your mind?
Minimal techno? Mnml techno? Hard techno? Tekno? Dub techno? Acid techno?

robert hood, jeff mills, juan atkins, jim masters, dereck may, carlos rios, carl craig, ben klock, surgeon, ben sims, black dog, basic channel, plastikman, dave clark, billy nasty.

Its basically when i took a real interest in music, going to techno nights in a dingy as fuck club called subway in aberdeen, getting mashed and dancing all weekend. Then going to edinburgh for nights at the venue and the carlton studios. I've had some of the best times of my life with a techno soundtrack so it means quite a lot to me i suppose.
