Ok well maybe it is. 8)

I'm thinking of making a weekly 5 min screen cast of me making a track, or getting one of my finished tracks and diceting it. Or even just general production techniques and tricks. What do you think? will it be worth it?
Im going to be using logic pro, but i can see the appealing to wider audiences as well.
Also what would you like to see? Me creating a track from scratch making a video for each step... ie the drums, then bass etc...

Or would you rather me take a track i have already finished and take it apart bit by bit? I think i would prefer this as for me making a track can take upto 2 weeks, so it would be very time consuming.

So yeah, basically without being smug about it, what track of mine would you like to look into, and anything else really. Just what would you like to see. Any particular type of process or technique? I need to get inspired :)

*Edit - My tracks can be found in the soundcloud link in my sig

Heres Episode 1.. Drum processing

Logic Pro - Dubstep Production episode 1 - Drums Processing Part 1

I'd prefer you talking about a finished track and etc.

But that's just me! :)

just do both, i personally wud love to see you starting a tune from scratch..

no need to finish it, e.g 10 min video on drums, how you layer, effect, process, mix them...

then probably making a bass (nono lfo=>cutoff=>done) over a random beat....

try to go over more things that are not usually in dubstep production videos = making atmospheres, pads, arranging, automation...

a regular production podcast would be amazing... and we can suggest new topics as we go... and prolly invite more producers later)

just some ideas

Cheers for the good ideas, but i think it would have to be one or the other. Maybe just generalized tips on EQ, or compression say? I know i would rather delve deeper though.
I'm at Uni you see so Im under a time limit to do this as well as getting on with my degree work.

i like this idea, it'll definatley be interesting for other production heads!

I'd guess dissecting a track would be more interesting, going thru eq's, fx and synth work etc
look 4ward to this :D

Yeah ok. So this week im going to be doing drums on DX7 Heaven. My mixer is very disorginised though. Logic has managed somehow to mess up the whole mixer so that all my auxilaries are totally spuffed up and are mix about

maybe have a lot of talking.

i know it might seem like a weird request but on a lot of these "make a tune" videos, the person just seems to be going through the motion of making their track while giving very little input to the viewer as to what they're actually doing and why they're doing it.

Yes Depone, me liking this idea :)

Well because your have other work to do aswell, (uni stuff) so i would advice you to do, one video, maybe explaining one finished track? This will not take up much of your time. It could be a 10min video, and go through certain steps

- Drums> What processing ? Final processing i.e parallel compression
- Baseline> What ever synth you used, massive..? > processing
- Elements, What other stuff you got going on... etc

Noting to complex, just your standant procedure, the way you go about doing thing. :e:

Alien Slut ftw, btw ! (highly doubt this tho )

Alright, after some thought, i will be doing Hatian Dreams, as it had a good balance of production coupled with quite a simple track so everyone can latch onto what im doing. Safe, im gonna do this now. A 2 part-er

Would prefer to see you create something from scratch.....Never learn anything from CM vids where someone says yeah i made this bass in massive with x Osc's or whatever......Would love to see someone open a soft synth and start from scratch explaining EVERYTHING that they are doing!

Props tho for taking the time :D

Hey man big up on this idea and lovin your tunes! here is some stuff that I would love to see:

Perc/drum patterns and your reasoning behind them

Bassline construction, or at least your thoughts behind it (no not bass sound construction im more interested in the composition)

maybe some more advanced sampler usage

mix downs and ofc some mastering would be excellent!
