D would be F# and C# i think, maybe I'm wrong too

It's a weird key though, i can't say i have seen many keys that are written like that

C D Eb F F# G A (if ya get me)

The example you gave consists of these intervals - tone, semitone, tone, semitone, semitone, tone. To find the scale you're looking for you will need to start at a certain point of that list of intervals until you find one that matches a western scale. For example, what you wrote could also be seen as d,Eb,f,f#,g,a,c which would be semitone, tone, semitone, semitone, tone, tone. I don't actually think the selection of notes you wrote comply to any Western scale though.

ahh i see, well in that case, it may not have a common key, ive had that a few times, it still sounds good but couldnt find a key for it!

its vaguely based in C minor, but with some unusual added notes, the major 6th (a) and diminished 5th/augmented 4th (f# /Gb), the closest thing youd get to something like that in music theory is a variation on a bluesy Cminor scale.

Yeh I was thinking Harmonic or Melodic minor but I'm not able to look yet and unfortunately I don't know anything other than natural minor/major off my head

if it continues on up with B and C, it's C minor w/ a diminished 5th.

call the accidentals Eb and Gb and bob's your uncle.

closest thing is the C blues scale, but that would have a Bb instead of an A natural, and the 2nd is usually not included... though this scale would also work well for blues.. it doesn't correspond to anything in western music though i'm pretty sure, having 2 half steps in a row is pretty uncommon. but hell, give it a name and it might catch on, you never know.

G A Bb C D Eb F[f# for leading tone] ? Just a guess.

Sounds like a 6-5 progression in G harmonic minor (G natural minor with a major 7). The 6 chord is Eb maj (Eb G Bb) and 5 chord is D maj (D F# A)

sure! how do you think all the other scales got their names? someone just made them up and named them. then a lot of people liked it to and started playing it, and bam, now everyone who learns theory knows what mixolydian, harmonic minor, etc. are.

That is a Cdim7 chord. The only anomaly would be playing that G, but that would just make it more like a blues scale. The Cdim7 would be spelled out:

C Eb Gb A

Like Sharmaji said, just spell it out with the enharmonics and you're good. It's a full diminished chord because of that 7th which is really Bbb but would be spelled enharmonically with the A. So the notes you laid out were:

C D Eb(D#) F Gb(F#) G A(Bbb) C = Cdim7 with the exception of that G.
