Why does Ableton suck at track analysis?

This is the result, every time, of dropping a new track into Ableton:
I don't get it. The program more or less knows where the beats are:
so why is its track analysis such a fug mess?

Meh, it really aint that bad. That lil gap is hardly gonna throw your mix out of time, besides you can go and line up the first four beats of a bar perfectly, then ctrl D to duplicate for the rest of the track. I leave warping off and do the first bar manually.

yeah, those gray pseudo warp markers are usually never accurate. tbh i never really use them anyway, just manual warp the song yourself and double click to add your own warp markers. dont let it turn you off to live's warping potential....acapellas can be tricky but most dance music is easily warpable in under a minute or two once you get the hang of it. usually, adding a warp marker to the first beat of the track and "set 1.1.1 here" will properly align the whole track, so long as your global tempo accurately matches the songs tempo. piece of cake

I do exactly what you guys do.
I'm saying Ableton doesn't even put the first beat at the first beat. It always starts the song at like the 0:27 mark or something stupid.
I'm giving it credit for knowing more or less where the beats are, but it doesn't even start 1:1:1 at beat 1 automatically. It's just completely random where it starts it. Even saving me the one click > set 1:1:1 here every time would be awesome.

forgive me if i'm not understanding you correctly, but usually most songs have a tiny bit of silence just before the first beat of the song, so 1.1.1 is never at the first beat like you said. again sorry if im misunderstanding you but if this is what you're referring to - it's a really easy thing to solve, just hold shift and drag the first beat of the song to 1.1.1 or add a warp marker to the first beat and set 1.1.1 here. i think that tiny bit of silence before the first beat or sound is normal

Well Tracktor and Torq off the top of my head can usually figure out where the first beat is. I don't know why it is always way off but I don't really care because I wouldn't trust it even if it did. I am not about software doing every little detail for you.

Now that I actually look at it, the blown up picture there it looks like it placed the marker where the beat most logically started when in actuality there is a slower attack on that beat. There is only so much a computer is going to be able to figure out without being artificially intelligent. Still other programs seem to do it better, idk.

no clue... it never gets shit right, though.
just stick to warping your tunes manually... you would have to do it anyways. you should always zoom in as far as you can when youre setting your warp markers, so its something you should be doing regardless.

I don't really get it either. Some songs it gets spot on (quite rarely though) and others it chops off the first two beats, or completely misaligns everything and places warp markers all over the shop. Maybe it's the swing in some tracks that throws it off? Suppose if it got it right everytime it would just give the Ableton haters something else to whinge about.

At the end of the day I wouldn't feel comfortable just throwing tunes into Ableton and playing them, just get rid of all the warp markers and do it yourself... It is, as everyone's said, pretty easy to do so it's not like it's that much of a hardship lol

truth. warping in Live 7 had a learning curve (i thought, anyways) but warping in Live 8 is so much easier. i warp every track i drop in there. if you're DJing or performing live with Ableton, its the least you can do!
