i like sampling and doing drums and stuff on the mpc and i make basslines by sampling bass's and looping them and stuff with mp, but i obviously can't get the crazy synth sounds that i really need to get. what program can i get that could work with my mpc and make synth/bass lines with?
hear what i'm working with so far: www.myspace.com/nickwojbeats

Korg Microkorg would be a good place to start, it's versatile and about as inexpensive as you can get for a new synth.

mixing desk ? fx units ? f you dont have these already i'd say they're more important than a synth - you can always use samples of synths etc

Well, what kind of bass tones do you want? Are there some producers or tracks we could use as reference points?

PS: also, what's your approximate budget?

If you've got an MPC, then Reason compliments it really well and is easy to synchronize. Then you've got a cheap/free way of getting loads of different sounds into your tunes....
There's also quite a few tutorials on YouTube about linking an MPC to Reason...

I got an MPC1000, used to use Reason... Now I got a Virus C - fucking madman of a synth.
