ok i been looking for labels recently to sent out demo's but am not sure what kind of little label's even do my style of Dubstep at the moment i have about 3-4 track's i want to sent out i have a couple of Deep track's and a couple of kind of Filth but i don't know any small labels that does my style of dubstep, i pretty much just know the big labels'...

do you guys find it hard to find labels to the style of beats that you make?

and the fact you can't find a label doing what you want, find a label you like and make them take the risk by signing you.

i don't want to be rude, cos i just asked a label question i'm not at the level to be signed, but by judging the song in your sig no one will want to sign you just yet, it sounds...... quite naiive

I sign deep and filth. Originally I had in mind doing 2 siders, 1 more dancefllor and 1 deeper. Unfortunately hardy anyone makes more than one style.

Normally, the labels finds you... not the other way around. If your music is good enough, one day someone will contact you..

If you look hard nuff, theres a thread called 'Labels' that lists a TON of them...

You also an try typing 'New' 'Label' 'Looking' into the DSF google custom search, youll get tons of hits...

This, yes and no... On one hand, last n least is right you cant send stuff too labels until you can compare it too something that is signed. if your not ready, your not ready, and a lot of us, really probably arent.

But, I disagree with what he said about sub dirt... Everyone has to start somewhere man, even labels. Sure, some are gonna go slidin down the tubes at mickey mouses house of mouse, but some will live, n if you laugh em all off now, you lose your in with them before it even has a chance too start.

When did you first hear of Rottun, n how big were they then?

The thing is nowadays 90% of producers make the same thing, even if the production is tight, everything is sounding great etc it's still been done and allthough people would like the tune and happily play it out etc there not likely to pay money for it, because theyve already got a tonne of the same thing.

Keep producing and keep trying to find something unique and fresh, dont focus your energy on trying to get a record deal because it dosnt work like that and if it does then the label isn't going to be genuine/reputable/good.

By listening to your tune in the signature I can tell the potential is there but I wouldn't sign it because I think it's too similar to the heap of tunes already out there. Just keep making beats that you like and maybe one day you will hit something special and get noticed. Dubstep is cash starved so getting yourself signed to a label nobody is has heard of isn't going to make you money.

Running a label myself I know it's very difficult to actually make a profit on a release, It's very costly to make a release if youre doing everything right and genuine. Thats why I will only release tunes I believe in.

If you believe in your tune fair enough thats a good start, just keep working and get to the point where you look back and think the tunes you have now are garbage and the new ones are the shizz!

sure, i fucking love the enthusiam from all those guys starting up labels, but you sometimes get a few which haven't done any preparation before attempting to start one up. They aren't answering questions abt what style they are going to put out, not checking up on the thread which they themselves had posted.... they don't even have aim, which is just a mandatory thing nowadays....

Right on, I totally getcha man, haha, like I said, 99% of em are mickey mouse labels started by kids younger then me and never goin anywhere, n never said they werre hard too spot! Its finding the legit ones thats the trick, haha. Its like you said, first sign of a bogus label is shoddy lines of communication and reluctance to answer questions. Thats why you see the majority of people ask little questions before they send demos...

But, once you can spot the good form the weak, you shouldnt be afraid to side with the little guy, seeing as most of us on here are little guys ourselves.

ive been producing for just about 4 years or so now, never sent a demo, or gone label hunting

im far more concerned with trying to achieve the standard of production ive been striving towards for this long

Edit - thierry, ive noticed you post atleast one new track every day in dubs. maybe you should spend a bit longer trying to perfect a new project rather that bang them out as quick as poss. do like your tracks though, keep at it man

Have to disagree that labels find you, to an extent.
If I hadn't sent anything out to labels, I wouldn't have got signed.
Sure, if you're an established artist and have something that everyone is after then they'll come after you (although quite often they have send stuff around too!), otherwise, make sure it's your best and send away.

^ true this. I think it mostly to do with connections too honestly, look at what is on some vinyls, comapared to some unrealesed stuff on soundcloud.

i kinda desagree with some about networking let them find you kinda thing
i have some mates who has signed up to big labels in other genre's by sending out demo's the old way 1-3trax on a C.D and contact details..or these days just sending some 320's emailling to labels
and most of those guy's would never even upload an unsigned track's to ther myspace or scloud and it has alway worked for them..

but i have just found it hard to find the right type of label of style am making

that's deffenantly 1 problem i have every new track i always want it done quick all tho i do spend abit of time on it and always re edit them ..lol some track's i have over 100 versions of them..
i also need to stay away from the Dubs section..lol addicted to the Dubs section not good.

99% of established labels will simply throw your demo on the pile / in the bin ... sad but true

a really good example of whats been said in this thread is that stary eye's tune

i had it for about 6 months before it went commercial

knew it would be a banger ... but now its turning to cheesy poop ... but fair play to the girl i hope she follows up with a smasher !
