An octave is the interval between one musical pitch and another with half or double its frequency. Which basically means, the same note, only 12 semi tones higher. ever seen a piano keyboard? You can see "sets" of the same 12 notes.
By saying down a few octaves, he means you should play a lower note. That's where the bass comes from, the lower your note, the lower the frequency.
Like serox said, you have got plenty to learn, don't be hard on yourself, and don't make threads saying something is Urgent. It's not urgent. Take your time, and you will manage to do everything you want to do.
